Import mp3 files into iTunes. Make sure all tags are OK. Transfer to iPad. It's the official way and will be the easiest.Sorry to hijack the OP's thread but my question is very similar.
I'm also upgrading to an Ipad Air from an Android device. I have loads of mp3 albums and tracks on my old device. How would I transfer these to the Ipad? Would rather not go through itunes if possible. All advice appreciated. Thanks!

Apple wants you to go onto iTunes and buy Breaking Bad, just in case you're wondering why it's so difficult!
It's not difficult.
If you don't want to watch videos through Itunes then you simply install another media app and drag and drop your video files.
You connect your Ipad to Itunes, you go to Apps, you go to File Sharing, you select the app you want to use to view the files, and you drop in your videos.0 -
Jim: If you are only wanting to watch stuff at home you could always set up Home Sharing. That way the files stay on your PC and are streamed to your iPad using iTunes.
If you do decide to use Handbrake (which is free) the workflow is simple.
Basically it is:
1. Convert using Handbrake. If there are a lot of files you can queue them up to convert overnight. Use the iPad preset.
2. Import them into iTunes.
3. Plug your iPad into your PC and drag and drop the files into your iPad.
4. You can then delete the converted files from your PC to save space.
If you aren't that techie I'm sure Handbrake users on the forum will be happy to help you step by step.

Again, you've been enjoying the freedom of Android. Apple want you to use iTunes so it'll be difficult to avoid.I'm also upgrading to an Ipad Air from an Android device.0 -

I can only find vlc media streamer for the ipad, can anyone recommend a good alternative, I don't mind buying one if it is good and will do the job.0 -
Apparently the VLC player has been removed from the Apple store...the VLC Streamer App is by someone else, not VideoLan. VLC was free. Not sure what else to recommend at the moment. Suggest going through the free apps on the app store, and see what has the best reviews.0

I use 8player for watching my stuff from my NAS/Humax HDR/Router attached USBdisk , I tried the free version first and shelled out the £2.99 for the full version(can't really remember why, I must have been feeling generous), works for me but hey it's not an ad so try it first, the free one may be OK for you4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . I mainly use VLC (which doesn't help answer the question), but CineX player is just as good, plays almost as many video formats as VLC.
