Attaching a Christmas wreath to the door

I have a UPVC front door and a friend has a composite door. We both have a problem getting our Christmas wreaths to stick the door. I've tried sticky pads, sticky pads with hooks,. sticky pads with hooks reinforced with sticky tape.... Whatever I try, it only lasts a few hours before the whole thing starts to peel off. Is there a magic solution I am missing? (without damaging the door)
Cheers

Do you have a door knocker? If so you can attach a loop of string to the top of the wreath and hang it over that

We tie a ribbon to it and lead that over top and fix inside.

You could fix a small screw or hook into the UPVC if you don't mind it being there permanently, go for something small and discrete.

Thanks folks that's given me some ideas. I can see the ribbon would work. For the moment have just used a bit of twine over the door and secured on the inside. So far so good!

I use cable tie base and cable ties

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/cable-tie-base
    http://www.diy.com/departments/bq-white-20mm-self-adhesive-cable-mounts-pack-of-50/177951_BQ.prd

They come in black and white usually and different sizes they last years

B&Q sell them too in electrical section. They easily come off just a tug and scrap adhesive off with fingers as adhesive left can be removed with small amount of turps. I stick my outside lights on this way too. i left some bases on permanent that arent unsightly

Shown top of wreath on the DG door. I also have it ties at bottom to stop it moving when door is open with a base and tie

  • Stick the sticky hook or what ever to the inside of the door and run gut over the top from the hook to the wreath outside .

Wow so many things I never thought of!
Yes it does seem that the wreath will hold if suspended from the inside of the door - as opposed to attempts to suspend it from a front fixing :(

My composite door has a timber top edge. Just stuck some ribbon round the wreath and a safety pin with a flat head on the top edge of the door

Command strips etc wont work on the outside as the low temps will cause the glue to harden
