They were implying it would get better when they rolled out 4G. Still same rubbish.

I wasn't aware that O2 were much better than their baby brand...

Last speed test I did on O2 (during the middle of the day) yielded 31Mbps downstream and 6.75Mbps upstream
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

I've topped up and used my old Giffgaff sim over the weekend for testing, and their 4G now appears to be pretty useful, I'm seeing a reasonable signal on 4G and adequate speeds, 10-20Mbps download and 5-10Mbps upload.

for example, a test I've just done:

This is in the same location that their 3G is absolutely abysmal normally, I used to get sub 1Mbps speeds which wouldn't even stream radio.

In my opinion, if you have a 4G phone and are in a 4G area it could be worth testing them again.

  • I had no issues with 4G so far on giffgaff. Seems steady away.

    I gather that's for 3G?

    That'll be 4G (LTE).

Only Three can manage that speed on 3G since no-one else uses DC-HSPA.
