I knew it had risks, bit worried now. Is there a risk it will completely brick it? Or that I'd have to do a full re-install?

There is always a risk of 'bricking' when Flashing the BIOS, though it is lessened if you flash using DOS.
As to a full re-install, that is unrelated. Though I guessed that if you wanted to move to Windows 7, that you were going to do that anyway.

Oh dear! Just tried to flash it and I'm getting a message continually scrolling that says: Invalid opcode at 0A88..........

Forget that, restarted it and it worked! Mounted the copy from the Lenovo site, copied to the bootavble USB and ran the lcreflsh and it worked!

    Now running 2.22 (7NETC2WW)

I have also ran SLIC and got screenshot, tried to PM you but you're full!

Thanks again by the way for all your help!

You can try sending it again now. You have a new PM. You can ignore the first two, as I have just seen your post here.

    Ta, resent it.

when I flashed the one you PM'd it didn't work so I mounted the one original ISO from Lenovo and copied it onto the bootable USB and seems to have worked, I hope!

Sorry did you mean for me to reflash with the BIOS & read me file that you sent and then send the screenshot?

The instructions were to flash the one here first and one via PM after.
Can't see how you got confused, considering the PM was titled; Once you have flashed the BIOS....

Anyway...I sent you updated instructions...try to not ignore them.

Your PM is full again mate!
Currently downloading the 32 bit one, don't suppose there's any point downloading the BIOS yet as the install will delete it won't it? Also the install instructions refer to me needing the product key?

Product key is not necessary for recovery disc.
