Was given Avios points 2 yrs ago still unused !

Two years ago I was due to fly from Manchester to Heathrow then connect to Philadelphia.
The first flight to Heathrow was 15 minutes delayed in taking off then it was delayed for 30 minutes on the landing as there was nowhere for the plane to park.
When we finally got off the plane we were told we couldn't board our connecting flight to Philadelphia as it was about to take off.
We were then told we had been given seats on a plane going to Chicago then connecting to Philadelphia the next day. We were given vouchers for a designated hotel and meals.
The next day we asked if we could have a direct flight nearer our destination. We were then allocated a flight to Baltimore which was nearer for us.
That flight was then delayed for a hour. The plane finally left and we arrived 24 hrs later than we should have missing an American football game my son had got us tickets to see.
I returned home and complained to British Airways who offered us 48,000 Avios points and they immediately put them in my executive account. I told them I was not happy and I wanted somebody else to look at my complaint. I was sent an email saying a supervisor had reviews the case and decided this was an acceptable form of apology.

I have and never will use these Avios points and had given up hope of getting anywhere with this, but after seeing the changes on Martins site wrote a letter early November asking for compensation within 14 days , however I have heard nothing.
I don't have any emails from them or my original booking emails however I did know my flight numbers and quoted these in the letter I sent. Do I stand any chance?
