I was coming here to suggest Cards Against Humanity too - everyone's above 18 after all.

You will see a whole other side to everyone you know though.

Haha I think playing this with my 80 year old nan might be going a bit too far! However it I'll definitely be getting it to play with friends :D

Smart !!! is great fun, especially if you have a couple of know-it-alls who can't resist shouting out too soon.

Pandemic is a good game where you all work together
The really nasty horse racing game
    Coup - simple but brilliant
Escape the curse of the temple - another one where its you vs the game

  • Don't forget the classics, e.g. Monopoly, Cluedo, Trivial Pursuit (although this is a bit marmite), Backgammon (only for 2 people).

We used to play a lot of games as a family. The usual Monopoly and Cluedo. Mum made us play Risk a lot as she always won!
The Business Game is a good one. Not sure if it's still available but definitely a lot of second hand sets out there. The rules are fairly easy so you don't waste time when all everybody wants to do is play.
Yahtzee and Uno are always good ones that can go on for hours.
My favourite at the moment is Perfection. It's a retro game that involves putting shapes onto a board but you only have 60 seconds and if you don't do it in time it pops. The timer is loud so really gets your nerves going and without practice it's actually quite difficult to finish it in time. Suitable for ages 2 to 102 as well.

Our all time favourite is the alphabet game. I am sure you all know it but for those who don't.

Everyone needs paper, pen and something to rest the paper on.

You all write a list of

    Boy's name
    Girl's name
    River
    Country
    Town
    Flower
    Tree
    Animal
    Fish
    Car
    Celebrity
    Etc Etc

(I do this on the computer and print off)

You then get someone to choose a number between 1 and 26 (or pick out of a hat) and then each person has to find everything on their list beginning with that letter.

When everyone has finished you then go round and ask what each has chosen. You only get a point if your choice isn't chosen by anyone else
Winner is the one with the most points.

We have played this very successfully for years and it is a great favourite.

    No googling on phones allowed!

Trivial pursuit with an add on pack of the kid's cards (play kids versus adults) so the questions are relevant to the ages of both teams.
