no money for an ice box?

Just use a card board box and insulate it with newspaper...

For ice packs, use plastic bottles full of frozen water, work just as good as ice packs, but useful cos you can drink them afterwards!!

    Hmmm not sure about that!!!

The key is preparation, get lots of ice/ice packs prepared and get a nice big coolbox.

There is a trade off between the amount of ice/ice pack you use and the amount of beer you can take: More Ice = colder for longer = less room beer or Less Ice = cold for less time = more room for beer.

Get the cans of beer chilled in your home fridge before as well. Keep the coolbox in the shade, keep it closed and open it as little as possible.

The bucket of water idea doesn't really do that much imo, it may drop the temp a bit but it certainly won't give you a cold beer.

If you can get to a supermarket you can usually buy a big bag of ice for about a pound to keep things colder for a bit longer.

Why not just drink it quicker!

If it's sunny and warm enough (unlikely probably), putting the can in a wet sock and leaving it in the sun will cool it down... cooling by evaporation i think - heard it works in the desert... :)
