I googled Barclays cheque pilot to get that link as I've not got the original email any longer. However your probably right about the email being personalised.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

I had a read of the page and to me it looks like a solution in search of a problem; I haven't received a cheque for years. Out of interest, do you deposit a lot and perhaps that's why you've been chosen to take part? Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

First they gave us McDonalds and Haloween.
Then they gave us Black Friday and Miley Cyrus.
Now they are trying to give us cheques by mobiles.

My Barclays current account has carried a balance of £1.21 for about the past two years. Also I dont remember the last time I recieved a cheque. However I'm happy to try new adventures.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
I pay in a cheque from one my clients weekly (I prefer to be paid weekly for cashflow reasons, which is cheaper than BACS, I've been told) in my Barlcays account, and I haven't received an e-mail from them.0

But if they asked someone it actually affects then they may receive the answers they do not want to receive.0

Some people and companies cling to cheques like a life jacket.
A law firm I used recently was happy to be paid by FP/BACS but when they had to send me money it was offered an inflated price CHAPS payment or cheque. I chose the latter.Archi_Bald wrote: »First they gave us McDonalds and Haloween.

Everybody seems to be writing as if this is something that has come out of the blue, which it hasn't, it's been talked about for a while. See this from almost a year ago.

I think it's probably an attempt by the banks to mitigate the impact of the requirement to keep cheques after the 2018 date that they proposed for getting rid of them.0 -
I did receive an email to take part but I just ignored it.
I also remember the initial trial limit is for £500 only and it has to be a Barclay's Cheque.0
