santander the worst cs ever

I was with another bank for a while 15+ When I decided to swap to Santander !!!!

Santander ....firstly they offered me an overdraft with mention of credit checks etc and then subsequently then denied me a overdraft since which time there application now shows it being subject to credit checks.

Then I had nothing but trouble With using my card online, then every time I called it seemed that the cs was limited and I had to log a complaint when a simple issue could not be resolved which more and more time on the phone this has continued Through out. The last person i spoke to from the complaints team basically told me that the cs dept only deal with basic queries such as balance queries and that type of thing so in terms we all understand you need to log a complaint to get basic queries answered.

The whole thing is infuriating to say the least and after 7 months I have swapped back, I can only offer my option from the service I received but if you value your sanity stay away from SANTANDER Its the worst thing I ever did

”maybe they didn't like you". Sounds like they discriminate against people as well then or do they have a Facebook system with a like or dislike on your account either way it would be no surprise to me.

Opions welcome if preferably before you have a drink please....

Never had any problem with them, although I've not had to contact them very often.

I have had Santander current accounts since 2011. I also have current accounts at FD, Nationwide, Halifax, Lloyds, TSB, BOS, Tesco, HSBC, NatWest, Ulster and Metro. No problems with any of them, none is better than any other, each have their own merits.

They're no better or worse than any of the others. Individuals will have the odd gripe with their bank at some point.

You're writing here looks a bit garbled. So I wonder if something was lost in the translation when you were trying to communicate with them?

I dont really have the need to communicate with santander, however there has been mixed experiences for me when dealing with CS at santander. I think it really depends on what sort of adviser you get, but then that's true for all banks.

Forgive me for asking, but I can see there was card issues when going online, what was wrong with the card?????

who did you return back to after over 15 years???
Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!

i left santander over 6 years ago, just one incident with their customer service was enough to get me to go. i did complain and get £25 back mind you.

I had fraud on my card and i phoned up to report it and cancel the cards etc. 2 days later i checked my account again and even more money was taken from it, they didn't actually cancel the card when they said they did and because I had already made a claim, i had to make a seperate claim for the new money and i had about 5345 letters from them about it in the space of a week.

While I've had two issues issues with them in the past, they have handled my complaints very well. They have a complaints system on the online banking which allows you to make a formal complaint in writing without any hassle. Both times they offered significant compensation without being asked and resolved my issues. I get the impression they beefed up their complaints responses because the regular cs is a bit weak.

OP, you might benefit from getting out of the mindset of having "a bank." There's no harm in multiple current accounts and you can always pick one with good cs and lots of branches for your "day to day" banking while still taking advantage of high rates/introduction bonuses from their competitors.
