Diamond Geezer - A strange tale......

In addition , you do seem to have a lot of rough and tumble around the issue of jewellery .
The burglary a year ago and then the sil who stole antique jewellery from you.
If I was your wife, I wouldn't take my jewellery off to do housework. I'd keep it on! Unless it was attached to my body by a strong cable tie.
Just sayin..
Holly, you are indeed right - we don't have a lot of luck with jewellery! The ring in this thread was bought to replace one that was stolen, so obviously there are some strong emotions attached to it.
To confirm some final things. Yes the ring is made of platinum, and yes it has been inspected by a local Jeweller. They confirmed Pollycat's response about the hardness of amethysts, and said for this reason they would never describe it as suitable for everyday use. They also offered the opinion that the process of replacing a stone could in fact damage other stones in the ring.
I appreciate everyone's response to this thread. Some people will understand our disappointment in the ring and service received. Others may think that Diamond Geezer have done all they can, and that this is a 'how it's used' issue. That's fine, the beauty of life is that people can, and do, have differing opinions.
I've posted our side of the story, and Diamond Geezer have offered a response, so I'm happy that people can make an informed choice about where they shop.
Many thanks, MSE'rs.0 -

I would be very disappointed that a jeweller had recommended that a full eternity ring partly set with amethysts was suitable for everyday wear.
As I've said earlier, I think the response from DiamondGeezer - posted on a public forum with well over half-a-million of members - is sarcastic & dismissive and does not put them in a good light.
I would be interested to know who actually wrote that response and what their position within the company is.0 -

The original, now deleted, post from the company actually had a direct link to their website where they had/have the picture and comments they requested MSE to directly post on here. It would appear that they don't think that there is any problem with the tone of their response.0
