Unlocking an Apple phone
Options
Hi all, I've just bought an iPhone 5s, that was with ee.
I'm with voda....I've enquired in the ee shop, they spoke to me like I was dirt under their shoe, the vodaphone advised me to go to ee!!!
I went to an "independent"phone shop & they wanted to charge me 90 pounds:rotfl:
Any suggestions any one?

needs the original contract owner for the EE Iphone to ring customer services and ask for the unlock code
http://ee.co.uk/help/getting-started/joining-ee/unlocking-your-phone
Your device must have been purchased when joining your contract or upgrading and actively used with your pay monthly SIM for a minimum of six months
As a pay monthly customer, if you've purchased a second-hand device, you will not be able to unlock the device using our online form.
Please note:
You will be charged £20.42 for unlocking your device, this will be charged to your account.
The IMEI of the device to be unlocked must be registered on the account and not blacklisted.
The amount of time it takes to unlock your phone depends on the device type and is as follows:
Apple iPhone / iPad: up to seven days
Any other device type up to ten days
We may need to contact your device manufacturer for your unlock code, which could delay things slightly. If that’s the case we’ll let you know by text on the contact number that you provide with us.Ex forum ambassador

Has it also been deregistered with iTunes? If not, unlocking the SIM is the least of your problems. Also, there is no 'unlock code' for iPhones, it is iTunes the processes the unlock once the network authorises it.0

Don't get charged over £25 or so.
Personally I struggled with finding one that would do it for that price.
However, this is why you should always look at brand new instead of used if possible. Many iPhones will lock to the first type of sim inserted (in this case, EE). Not a problem if you buy the handset as putting your sim in it will lock it to that network, but you should be able to get it unlocked free if you've been with them a fair amount of time.
There's nothing stopping you enquiring with an Apple store directly who may be able to help.0 -

Iphones bought ferom Apple will never lock to a newtwork, almost every other will lock to the first network. Its been said here that GiffGaff stock does not lock but best check before you buy.
Vodafone and O2 unlock for Free Although you may need to pay off the contract in advance. TM/Orange / EE charge £20.42 to process it, not sure about three.anotheruser wrote: »There's nothing stopping you enquiring with an Apple store directly who may be able to help.
No they won't its down to you and the network. Apple will not process any unlock for you in store it has to come from the carrier who locked the phone.
In addition if you swap a phone out under warranty with Apple when they tie up the swap the new phone will take on the same lock status as the old one.0 -
I got my second hand iphone unlocked using ebay.
Cost £12.49 earlier this year.
No problems at all.0
