I had a few issues at a laggy/defective Tesco pump terminal today. Just checked online banking and there are 2 pending transactions when there should only be one. Its likely that I've paid for the person before me aswell as for my own fuel.
Has this happened to any of you good people?
I've sent Santander a secure message not sure what else to do without using up an expensive phone call. May come to that though.

See if if actually comes through as 2 transactions - one of the payments may get cancelled. I seem to remember these pay a the pump do a test transaction of 1p on your card before it despatches the fuel. This 1p then wouldn't come through as a proper transaction. Chillax.....0

Report any unrecognised and/or unanauthorised transactions to your card provider immediately. They'll help you
Don't email/message them - call them now!
There's even a verified freephone number on saynoto0870 you could use :cool:0 -
That happened to me the other week. There were three payments pending for the amount that I spent on diesel on my CC statement.
When they moved to 'not pending' there was only one and the other 2 disappeared. Give it a few days and see.
Edit: are the pending amounts the same, and for the amount you spent?0 -
check in a week0

I think Mr K is right, they have to authorise your card before they know the full amount.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Both pending amounts are for 1.00 GBP. This amount is normal but having 2 instances is definitely unusual... at least for me with this CC.
I had to enter my pin twice due to the defective machine so think I might've paid for the £20 already displayed.
I couldn't query it inside as I was running late on the school run.0 -
I think the chances that you've paid for the previous person's fuel are slim to none.
And check saynoto0870 for a variety of different numbers for Santander that will either be free from a landline or included in a mobile plan.0 -

From my own personal experiences of using Tesco's Pay at Pump facility they'll place a pre-authorisation charge of £1 before the full amount is taken a couple of days later.
The chances of you paying for the previous customer's dispense of £20 is highly unlikely; for safety reasons the pumps will time out after a period of inactivity.
Furthermore when you entered your PIN successfully the second time once your transaction started the previous £20 displayed would've reset to zero ready for your filling. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -

That sounds good advice in theory but in reality the card issuer will not act until the payment has actually left the account. As the card issuer will need to be sure the retailer does not cancel the authorisation before they issue a refund. However their is no harm in letting the bank know the situation.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
The Tesco pay at pumps I have used all require you to insert your card and enter your PIN before it dispenses fuel. So I would say it would be impossible to pay for the fuel dispensed before the card was inserted.0
