Stud Walls: Are Resilient Bars Worth It?

  • Hi

I've just moved house and it seems there is only 1 brick thick on the party wall and you can hear everything from next door. I'm looking into soundproofing this but am struggling to get any definitive answers to the results. It's generally soundproofing companies that sell solutions.

    I'm looking at 2 options:

    1. Build a stud wall with 25mm gap against party wall filled with rockwool. Screw 2 layers of acoustic plasterboard with sound deadening rubber (2mm) in between and then get it skimmed.

    Total space loss 110 mm

    2. Iso clip resilient bars (rubber clips for extra db reduction) to the party wall. Screw 2 layers of acoustic plasterboard with sound. deadening rubber (2mm) in between and then get it skimmed.

    Total space loss 60m

Both options will be finished with acoustic sealant.

My head says number 2 but after spending hours and hours trawling I can't find any impartial testimonial for resilient bars apart from with the ceiling.

Has anyone got any experience on the results of this.

    Thanks
