Norwegian will only make the refund for bookings made 5-11th December. Has any one had any success with challenging this decision. Is there a definitive Government statement on when refunds should be made that we can quote to them?0

I booked flights to Japan for next August literally a few days (29/11) before the change. I have been trying to chase up with Asiana Airlines on if and when refunds would be issued for my two kids' tickets since.
Response today was that they don't have a policy so will not be issuing refunds. Travel agency said legally airlines don't have to.
How can they get away with keeping the money specifically attributed to a duty that will no longer exist? I think I need the £142 much more than Asiana. Think of the children!
Echoing the post above - what kind of comeback does the consumer have?0 -

I think US airways are going to try to get away with this one with our flights booked for next August too. I'd like a definitive message by the government as the airline will be making Moore money from us and not having to pay this to the government. I am guessing that there is nothing we can do as they already have our money but it is galling!0 -
I have booked a holiday to Florida for October 2015 which was booked Nov 2014 2 Adults 2kids through BA.
BA tell me I can have my refund but only a month after we return. Despise how companies feel they can hold onto money earning interest in their accounts for a year which is not theirs. Is this the new PPI????
Is there any guidelines on when they need refund, has anyone else had a similar experience?0 -
I have booked a flight in July going on Turkish Airlines, I havebooked the flights in February. I have contacted the agent to claim for APD but they said They haven't charged me in the first place so they have nothing to refund to me. How could I know they are not lying, the invoice for my payment says they charged me £228 airport taxes, which doesn't mention further details what type of these taxes. Any advice or a similar experience appreciated.0

Well I can't get it as my boy is 12 already0

I have tried to apply for a refund of APD for my daughter, and the travel agent said I cannot apply for a refund because I booked before the 1st May. Is this correct?0

If your travelling after 1st May 2015 then its not correct.

As you booked the flights in February 2015 then its possible that you were not charged the child APD, but without a breakdown of the taxes or knowing your route its impossible to say.
As an example today's taxes LHR - IST - LHR for an adult.
13.00GB
42.06UB
9.80TR
49.00YR (Fuel surcharge aka carrier imposed surcharge as they like to call it now which on TK in economy should be the same in any econ class on LHR-IST-LHR route)
So £228.00 is the taxes fees and surcharges for 2 adult passengers today.
You need to ask for a breakdown.0 -
I am confused with this one. My son will be 11 when he leaves the UK and 12 when he returns. We have paid in full for the flights already, but Thomsons are saying that because my son is 12 when he comes back into the UK, we cannot get a refund on the child tax.
I was under the impression that the tax is only liable on the outbound part of the flight?
Does anyone know where I stand with this one?0
