Sold Faulty Item - Retailer Being Difficult
Comments

Retailer insists their T&Cs supercede the law and will refund minus £30. Not acceptable.
To be fair while the T&C's are at best laughable i.e. £5 per hour to look for a lost receipt?
Section 18 says "the above does not effect your statutory rights", so they aren't insisting that at all.0 -
Except that that is what they are saying. They are also saying they cannot refund by card or cash and will only do it by cheque? Do I have to accept this as I don't want some dodgy bouncing cheque.0

Surely if I read correctly and you paid via card, then they should refund by the same method.
If it's easier then take the cheque and cash it ASAP. If it bounces then that's their problem not yours. The case is not settled until you get the money into your account.0 -
Name this bunch of ranch hands.
BTW in no. 16 of their T & Cs they say they charge "£5 for every other hour", which means they only charge for alternate hours after the initial £25 hour.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

If they're offering a cheque, jump at it. Either you get your money back or you're in a far stronger position, since you can simply sue on the cheque: http://lawscape.co.uk/articles/cheque-rule0 -
Thanks all. I will be naming and shaming as soon as the cheque clears. The way I was treated in store this evening was disgusting, to say the least.0
