Good duvet?

  • Best advice I can give is to look for the type of duvet that doubles up. So that you can use the 4.5 duvet in the summer and the 9 tog in the spring and autumn and the both together stuck together with velcro to make 13.5 tog for the winter. Mine is Silentnight. I have had ours years and won't part with it. Also, if looking for one for a double bed, I always go for the kingsize version as it gives so much extra duvet so no fighting for covers lol!

I would highly recommend a wool filled duvet.

We have been using one for the past five years. It is amazing, we have the same one on the bed summer and winter and what they say is true, it does seem to adjust to your body temperature accordingly.

I bought a microfibre all seasons duvet (i.e. two combinable duvets at 4.5 and 9 togs) from these people on ebay.

Have been very pleased with it, and it washes well.

  • Thanks all,

Having checked different suppliers, prices, material used, I have bought:

"Luxury Soft As Down" Microfibre Duvet Single All Season 13.5 Tog (9+4.5) from Soak&Sleep

I paid £63 for two duvets.

Will update this thread in a week or two to comment on the quality and sleeping comfort.

    Thanks All

Another vote for wool filled duvet. We got one because my wife is allergic to feathers and we don't like the synthetic ones.

The wool filled duvet is really nice and well worth the money.

The duvets have arrived and I have been using them for a few nights.

    - Looks like a good quality, accurate stiches, the cover feels good
    - Soft
    - A bit heavy, heavier than what I would expect from a microfiber duvet.

Overall it was a good buy and I can recommend 13.5tog Soak&Sleep microfiber duvets, if you can get them for around £30-35
  • There are some good products that match on the duvetandpillowstore.co.uk website
  • We've just bought a Kings and Queens Silk Indulgence duvet from Tesco with the clubcard points and it's much better than our old one!

Alternatively look at merino wool blankets.
Warm but not too hot as duvet.
