was going to suggest this - thats what we do - Three sim with free roaming and Google maps (which does navigation and also uses traffic conditions for best route etc) in an old phone

As long as your start point has mobile reception, you're laughing (and even in the desert we've had signal so would only be an occasional blip) :)

One thing I've noticed is you should override the settings in Vegas if you want to use data day-to-day in casinos etc; get it to use a manual network selection of the AT&T mobile network... seems to default to t-mobile and its dog slow!!! :)

I have a secondary old iPhone. Would google maps work? I never knew it did navigation etc. Very helpful if it works?

Thanks for the Casino tip also. The three at home bolt on sounds great. I have the sim, just need to top up and request the bolt on just before we go.

You could come off the I-15 down near Silverton, at 'Blue Diamond Road' exit, but take it east then turn left onto the strip.

If I go onto streetview on the I-15 I can see a sign for Blue Diamond exit 33, it has an east and west under it. Keep right for east. You can't miss the strip from there.

Perhaps your phone and 3 data will help. I wouldn't know as I've not got data abroad so never tried it.

Very helpful. Should be easy enough to figure out. Will this turn off also include the welcome to LV sign? Also, if we arrive about 7pm, should some of the hotels be alight by then?

Thanks for mentioning some of your DUB experience - we are there next month, and doing similar... unfortunately due to luggage costs (and ticket cost) on A.Lingus / RyanAir from Manchester, it made it quite expensive so annoyingly we are using Avios and routing via. LHR :( - this means two nights in Dublin instead of 1, but it is still significantly cheaper than going to DUB from MAN, and we go in the evening on the outbound so don't take any extra time off work to accommodate this (and we'll get the lounges I guess) :)

Interesting re: the scaremongering you mention. Our flight is one of the 9am's and there's a few so be interesting to see how busy it gets. Once through immigration, is there anything at all to do? :) any hints / tips?

    In short no.

You clear security as normal for departures and there's quite a bit there but you have to head downstairs for another security screen and the immigration line is immediately after. Then you are at the pier for US departures. Nothing here except a small duty free stall, a small bar and a couple of coffee stalls.
If we did it again I'd buy anything we might want in the regular departures area.

At the checkin desk they'll advise you to be at that immigration line 2 hours before departure time. Boarding was approx 40mins prior to scheduled departure.

I checked in online the night before for our US Airways flight which meant we could use the bag drop q rather than the general one but in truth the q wasn't that big.

Free Show tickets deal with MGM Resorts right now. The free ticket offer worked with an existing reservation. Minimum stay 2 nights.

    Choose from:

    Zarkana by Cirque at Aria
KA by Cirque at MGM Grand
    LOVE by Cirque at Mirage
    Zumanity by Cirque at NYNY
    Criss Angel Believe at Luxor
Blue Man Group at Monte Carlo
    Jabbawockeez at Luxor
    Terry Fator at Mirage
    Tournament of Kings at Excalibur

Links up at www.mycheapvegas.com, use username: guest pw: guest to login.

click on the '2 free show tickets' offer and under the relevant deal there is a link that says 'Click here to book your show tickets after making your reservation'

The link takes you to the following site: http://www.mgmresorts.com/entp/inter...x?kbid=3930103, I don't know if it works by going directly to the link instead of going through all the steps above, it probably does.

Then you put your reservation number in the box and click 'Book now'. The list of options are shown on the next page.

Make sure your room reservation is for 2 people. Mine accidentally was for one and I only got one ticket so I had to call Mirage box office and they changed it to two people.

Thought it worth posting the above again.
I was talking to an old couple yesterday at the pool and they said they'd never been to a free show. Made me think of this offer and it still looks live.
I took the couples email address and sent them the link so hope it works for them.

Thanks again to Chyna-s for posting.

Ah, we should maybe hang back half an hour. This will be in 5 weeks time.

Excellent - thankyou! :) double security to get through then!... can't wait! rather do it there than at the other end of the journey though I think! :)

I use a 4S as my day-to-day phone and it's perfect with Google Maps - not sure how it would work if you've got a pre-'iphone 4' generation model, but definitely worth a go :)

So I'm playing games on My vegas, but do I need an account set up or something? I'm confused about how this works!

    Thanks :)
