Cheapest windscreen replacement

Does her insurance cover it ? A lot of policies include windscreen cover either as standard or as an optional extra.
Other than that, phone for a quote from the likes of Autoglass, also get some quotes from local independents ( either Google or look in Yellow Pages ).
You say she has "just got a car" - was the crack there when she bought it ? If so, why wasn't it repaired before she took delivery of the car ?0 -
Their is no insurance company that will cover damage that was present when the policy was taken out.0

Agreed. I was just unclear as to whether the windscreen was damaged at the time she bought the car - in which case, why did she accept it ? Unless she received a discount because of this, and was fully aware that she'd have to replace it from her own pocket. In which case the best thing to do is phone around a few local companies for a quote.0 -
Thanks, her insurance is doing it if she pays £75.0

Note that some but not all insurers load the premium afterwards, slightly misleadingly saying no effect on no claims bonus (true, but not necessarily the whole picture), maybe £12 to £20 per year for 3 years.
So check this before proceeding, as a realistic figure to compare against paying yourself without claiming may be about £125 not £75.0 -

2015 should be the end of glass cover as we know it.0 -
Sounds interesting - what do you mean by that?
Windscreen cover will be an option, or bolt on addition to a policy, and not a standard feature on comprehensive policies.
This is how I see it, after recent events in the windscreen repair and replacement industry.
Now we'll see just how many people are prepared to live with pitted, or scratched windscreens...0 -

Surely they'll only live with it until the next MOT, when it'll have to be remedied if it restricts vision ?
And I would venture to suggest that many folk would opt for the ( presumably not overly expensive ) addition of windscreen cover when they take out the policy. I know I would, in the same way that I pay extra so I can have a courtesy car if mine is ever off the road for repairs. Like any insurance, I hope I'll never need it, but for the sake of an extra £20 a year I figure it's worth it.0
