CRD Transport

Hi Guys,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this and if not can the admin move it please? Thanks

OK so I recently came across an add on ebay advertising a car that was well under market value. I decided to enquire about it and the owner said she was now abroad and that the car is being held with a holding company called CRD Transport and gave me a link to contact them if I wanted to buy the car. I'd post the link but this is my first post so I can't :(.

My alarm bells are ringing a bit by this point so I check on the company it appears to be registered with companies house so it seems legitimate but I'm still not 100%.

Has anyone else had dealings with CRD Transport and help put my mind at ease? It appears they're based in Paisley, Scotland.

Just because there is a company called CRD transport doesn't mean it isn't a scam. Have you called their (legitimate) details and asked them if a car meeting that description is stored with them, awaiting delivery to whoever buys it? Explain that you think it might be a scam and - if it's genuine - I'm sure they'll be helpful.

You will of course remember that with so many companies around, you do have to quote the exact limited company name and not assume the registered address (say one in an upmarket, residential location) has anything to do with their trading location?
  • Thanks for you help guys, they have an 08 number so I'll give them a call.

Here's the registered office information I've found so far.

    Name & Registered Office:
    CRD INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORT LTD.
    6 DUNCHURCH ROAD
    OLDHALL RALSTON
    PAISLEY
    PA1 3JW
    Company No. SC257963

You will notice that that particular, established company is "** International ** Limited" and that is a residential, registered, not their trading business address. You may wish to wonder why you are splurging their details over the internet.

But it says registered company? I've just done a check on how old the website address is and it was only created on 17 November, 2014 ! The person tried to say they used them before but the website wasn't even running!

The ebay listing has now disappeared now too, it's a scam I think I gave them my name address and mobile number so I should expect spam from now I suppose but at least I didn't part with any cash

Indeed. None of my limited companies have ever been registered to our own trading address - always to the accountant's offices.

    But two seconds finds...

Again, residential address - and why would a cold storage and distribution company be storing a car?
I find no website or real business presence, no site address, no 08xx phone number, only a mobile. This is really screaming scam.

Splurging? Ludicrous. Republishing information already in the public domain.
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

I'm only trying to find out information and not be scammed. This information is in the public domain so it's hardly splurging their information over the internet when it's already there!

Where did that come from? The person who's telling you that it's all legit, honest? And the phone number is also on that website?

So, basically, you're going to phone a number provided BY the putative scammer and ask whoever answers if they're planning on scamming you...?

This is getting smellier by the minute.

Let's look at the domain name itself...
Registered a fortnight ago. No apparent links to the limited company. Just a spurious name and a hidden-because-individual address.

    Domain name:
    crd-transport.co.uk

    Registrant:
    wear

    Registrant type:
    UK Individual

    Registrant's address:
The registrant is a non-trading individual who has opted to have their
address omitted from the WHOIS service.

    Data validation:
Registrant contact details validated by Nominet on 17-Nov-2014

    Relevant dates:
    Registered on: 17-Nov-2014
    Expiry date: 17-Nov-2015
