Wasn't trying to put you off the CUs, just noodling :)

I appreciate the advise you seem extremely savvy financially so welcome your opinions :-)
  • Nothing much to report today money wise.

Thought it was an inset day at school until I found out at 8.45 it wasn't!!! Got there on time somehow!

Spent £2.80 on 4 really nice corgette plants and got a free coffee from cafe Nero curtesy of Aviva on my way to work.

Checked my accounts still looking in okay order. No payment received yet from phone recyclers will call if I don't get it by end of the week.

Hoping to get a little bit bigger OP this month but the surprise party is on later in month so I've £400 to pay for a band to find!!! Plus buy the foodstuffs. Should be fine as it is after my next paymonth starts.

No work on house planned for June except will have to buy a bit of turf for the garden (£50 approx) as we've taken out a border to leave more room for football!

My last laser surgery payment is this month too so that's £260 per month which will be going to making up towards the OP's target for the year as of July

Phone recyclers not answering any calls or emails. I feel I may have been ripped off :-(

Paid for school clubs today £23 and spent a couple of quid in tesco too.

Starting adding party buffet stuff I go asda website keeping it simple as I have to make buffet without him noticing! Have 60 confirmed guests but have at least 50 still to confirm ! I'm expecting about 80 in total. I have a Buffet budget of £100 so it's going to be basic!!!

Nothing much else to report on the money front!

Just brought a camping bbq on clubcard boost for £0, £10 worth of vouchers used. Very happy!
  • Bills account is looking more healthy this month! Finally getting back to normal post heating disaster!

Tomorrow I'm into Halifax to finally sort out the 2 half opened accounts! Then I should be earning £5 per month reward for nowt! This will go straight into mortgage account.

Wrote a blog post today about my lovely breadmaker and my garden one from earlier in the week has been super popular. I have at least 3-4 others drafted in my garden series. I brought 4 corgette plants yesterday for £2.80 in total and planted them out in some tubs. I think that will probably be all I do this year now, except some salad leaves. Heading up to 3000 views on blog now and have a whopping 40 followers on Twitter!

    Hi OP,

Wondering if I could help you get the cost of you heating Oil down as I work in the trade. Do you know what the Pence per litre was that you paid and how many litres you ordered? Also do you pay with each order it over direct debit?

Opened my Halifax account finally! Went into he branch and it was set in properly in 15 mins or so! Lady was so gutted I didn't have a dormant account sitting around so she could give me the switching payment too! She also mentioned that they are launching a cashback system too soon :-)

Set up my transfer and 2 DD's straight away to get the rewards straight away. Set up all my standing orders going to the 3 bills accounts I now have so it should be automated. I left 2 days between each transfer to allow for any delays and aim to have 2 months of bills value in each account just in case my automated system goes wrong! In a couple of months it will be running like clockwork and I will be getting a total of about £20 per month for nothing :-)

Upped the payments to my unit trust and pension a bit today. They are both doing okay so I'm happy to stay with them knowing nothing at all about investments and pensions!

Have to sort out my Barclays account that I have left over from the ing days which has a few quid in it earning no interest. The local Barclays is always so packed and slow so I've been putting off going in! It took me over an hour to change my address last time I went in!
  • Was up half the night a few nights ago thinking about if I ever got a pension in my old job. I sent the pension provider for them (and another job I did) an enquiry just in case. It might well be worth checking out any jobs you did decades ago just in case there was a company pension in your package that you've forgotten about. All the info of how to do it is on my blog if you want to do it, no point in writing it all here again! Just PM me for link or its in one of my older posts somewhere.

In other news were taking the van and going camping got the night. Not sure how this will go as BF is currently in one of his insomniac periods. Maybe it will break the pattern :-) need to guy a couple of bits but should cost less than £20 all in all including campsite fees :-)

The birthday party is in 2 weeks. I have 65 confirmed as definite yes and 1 definite no! I have about another 30 to hear back from. I'm expecting 80 to actually come and I still have NO IDEA how I'm getting him there!!!

Next couple of weeks will be expensive with 4 birthdays but should have things in the present cupboard to cover a couple.

I'm thinking about getting a S&S ISA what platform is best for charges/service.

Assuming platform provider isn't totally shonky, 'service' is just another layer of costs eating into your hard earned money.

Charles St@nley Direct very good for straightforward portfolios of funds with an ISA worth £32k or less.

    Good comparison table on Monevator.
