I'm sure that you will have been asked this before, but can you explain what you mean by "provided"?

Most "boomers" are not involved in BTL. Indeed, many of them will be financially disadvantaged themselves.

What exactly have they, themselves done to promote this situation, as distinct from the policies of Government(s) they may or may not have voted for?

And am I part of this problem being a BTL-owner, but not a "boomer"?

    Take a guess.

All new house built with basements would increase the liveable available sq footage

I always wondered why UK houses never had basements. I'd have thought it would be an obvious thing to add. With a basement my tiny 2 bedroom house would be pretty spacious (and I could have a mancave).

So why do you go on and on about Boomers, when your real issue is with BTL... no matter how misplaced?

A lot more people would not have a problem if their families had been a lot more focused.

Any family that grandparents/great grandparents(depending on age) that had started owning property and educated the kids to get reasonable jobs, if the children had followed and recycled the houses into property when the previous generation died could now be self sufficient in property for future generations.

There would be some cost to move for jobs but people have those anyway.
Any wealth creation would be going into those families getting bigger and better houses.

I wonder if was around the time we stopped having servants.

Also with a lot of planning permission now on low lying flood/marsh land they may not be so practical these days.

Ignore the racists on this thread, it's common for a minority of people in this country to blame immigrants for stealing jobs and homes.

The vast majority of these racists have low IQ's, which is the primary reason for their failure in life to secure a decent paying job and a nice home.

The problem with thick people, is that they are to thick to realise they are just thick.

I think you mean too thick and not "to thick".

Battersea power station site has been unused for 30 years:
foreigners are now developing this to become businesses and residential housing : some will be OO and some rented.
Without the foreigner this site would not be so developed.
Why do you consider this unacceptable.

    They are creating new SUPPLY.

You are missing the point. The supposedly helpful investors from outside the UK making profit from our capital land space, are providing ultra exclusive apartments. That is supply to fuel the insane London market even higher.

If the housing market wasn't allowed to uncontrollably inflate to a crazy level the non UK investors would never have bothered! my point is let's remove the pressure from global investors in residential property and let's enjoy sustainable Growth and affordable homes for people living and working in the UK.

Abandoned and derelict for 30 yrs and the London market on a surge, it's not surprising investors have swooped in. If there was competition between those Malaysian investors and somebody else, it would have helped to push the market value higher?

If our housing markets was not seen as such an attractive prospect on the global scene, maybe, we would get more sustainable investment projects that create jobs and economic growth and robustness.
    Peace.

    LOL

At least we can maintain a sense of humour in these discussions?

The insanity is not the property purchasers in London, the insanity is our government sitting idle and allowing it to happen. It is negligence and socially divisive.

I wonder what your motivations are postin here, and it is not my first questioning of your presence here.

You seem to try to discredit and throw insults at anybody that says anything that is anti establishment, and 'lefty', or liberal. Have you ever considered that your view and understanding is wrong or out dated?

Ok..... Let's give some credit to your insults and attempts to discredit people.... what is your background, career, education.... what are your biases.... I think we all know you are a buy to letter?

The last time I asked this of you ran away scared from me.... it's time to put your cards on the table..... I've explained a lot about myself during my posts on this forum, as have others, but you prefer to remain completely annoymous and hidden, what have you got to hide?
    Peace.

There were several bids for that site including one from Chelsea fc. I don't think the fact that some Malaysians bid highest is too significant really.
    FACT.
