The difference between HD ready and full HD is very noticeable when playing Xbox

Actually it may not make much of a difference.

Full HD is just a marketing term, many use it to say its 1080p/

HD ready mean the Tv can at least handle a HD signal, ie 720p+
But a 1080p can be sold as HD Ready.

Which is why there is often alot of confusion.

to be sure, its best to check the resolution

If its only HD ready (compared to Full HD) the TV will not receive HD progs over the air

but will play a HD DVD

HD-DVD is an obsolete format, Blu-Ray won the format battle there.

with colour enhancement technology to boost and enhance the colours X-Box games will look great and 100Hz will give smoother flicker free motion on graphics and movies. ;)
Did someone swallow a marketing manual?
I'll take my colours 'true' rather than 'enhanced' thanks.
OP - you do want a 1080 (Full HD) TV. If you can have it with Freeview HD, even better. And don't worry about 100Hz either, TV is only broadcast at 50Hz.

    Thank you everyone
I'm going to buy the Samsung non-smart TV from richer sounds as it has a five year guarantee
