  • Just updating total.

I agree mumps, would love to know why some auctions get higher bids than expected!

  • Have just dropped off a few fragile items at my local Auction House for their auction at the end of the month. Nothing especially valuable but probably a better place to sell 'antiques' than on eBay/Facebook or wherever. I know from past experience of using them that the fact that they have an internet presence resulted in higher bids for my previous lots:j.

Fingers crossed that everything sells:). I don't know why I hung onto these items for so long. They were part of my share of things from my parent's home which my brother and I split between us after their deaths. He certainly had no interest in them (was pleased I was willing to take them away really) and they have no sentimental value to either of us. I can't recall seeing most of them on display, my Mum was a bit of a magpie and acquired all sorts of stuff that she didn't even need/want just because it was a bargain at the time!

Evening all, my Facebook sale came through, although ironically not with the first person who said they were going to collect. Anyone the second person picked it up and seemed happy with it which is always nice. :)

Can I ask you experienced ebayers for some advice? I listed something for £25 today, thought it was a fair price and did it buy it now. I am experimenting with different strategies to see what works. Well I have received an offer of £15. Now I am not sure what to do, I mean £15 is better than nothing but I only listed it today so seems a bit early to jump at the offer. What is the ettiquette, do I just wait, should I acknowledge the offer. Any advice welcome, I don't want to upset a potential customer.

If you put £25 buy it now or make an offer, then it's expected to get offers that are a bit lower than your BIN price. However, you're right if it's only just gone on and you'd rather wait that's fair enough. I would definitely contact them though, either with a counter offer i.e. £20 or to say thanks for the offer but I'll wait a little bit longer to see if I get the full price/a higher offer.

Whatever you decide to do regarding the offer, I think it is polite etiquette to acknowledge them. :)
