Im only obsessed with cleaning as i keep making such a mess with christmas related stuff. you never know when people will pop round at this time of year so i try to be prepared.
If i gave my oh a list of jobs he would do them, but make more mess while doing it! i asked him to get something from the loft while i was at work, he did it but got loads of other things out to get to what i wanted and then never put the other stuff back!DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
I remember in our old house I did the same thing. DH was sent up for something simple, but decided to bring a toilet bowl down that had been up there since we moved in and re-did the bathroom. It just sat in the upstairs hall for about a month as it was far too heavy for me to lift. Eventually, it got moved to the garage where it lived until it was skipped about a year later.
We don't have a loft now, just a storage unit 20 miles from home - much better idea!0 -
I can just picture you walking past a toilet bowl every time you walk past the hall, why is it men never really think things through!DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0

Discovered this thread yesterday; have read through to page 11, enjoyable as it was, then got too frustrated (I should have been in bed at least an hour ago). Please tell me this is a wind up or a con.0
-
Nope, not a wind up!!! Am I that false?! Wish it was some sort of con! Thanks for reading and posting anyway Meadhran!
Have had a rather hectic couple of days at work as some equipment broke, and I was the only person in who was qualified to work without it, so I actually had to work for a change instead of playing on t'interweb. Not a particularly enjoyable experience, but I survived!!! But as a result I've been away from here for a couple of days, so just having a quick catch-up and been through a few diaries, but as always hypno has about another 100 pages! Will have to allocate some catch-up time later for that!
PAYDAY TODAY!!! Hubby has just gone up one notch on the payscale this month, which is worth an extra £60ish a month after tax, but as we're quite a bit overdrawn at the moment following our expensive time-off. Need a 'get back on track' plan for January. At least all the normal payments will be made over the next day or 2, so I can update sig as normal and worry about it at the end of the month if we end up overdrawn again, which is quite likely.
Which means that should acheive my target of being sub-80k before Xmas, even if the overdraft takes it slightly over again in Jan!
Hope everyone's well, will catch up properly soon.0 -
Have been quite good this weekend, not spending too much and resisting temptation, even when I was in Makro the other day. (Panda 2 - Faffs 0!).
Have had quite a good couple of days on Ebay, although sadly instead of being able to put it towards proper debt it will only just sort out the overdraft. Still, far better than having the overdraft AND the debt, and hopefully will be able to start the New Year on a clean slate (well, with the bank account anyway!)
Sounds like everyone else has had a rather busy weekend, sorry to those guys who've had a bit of a rough time.
Only another 375 days until next Christmas!0 -
Good news at hubbies pay rise, i just got mine will work out at about £40 per month, but at least i can add it to my credit card payments.
Im feeling really positive about next year, I really want to get a large chunk of this debt shifted. Glad you managed to resist temptation while you were out, Ive been pretty naughty this month. Not used any credit cards though.
hope everything is well with you and your not too busy.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
Once again, I've been slack on here due to the amount of things I've had to do and lack of time available on the computer at work!
Just updated signature with this month's normal repayments - we're down to just over £79k :j so achieved the Xmas sub-80 challenge I set myself, and I'm up and running at last on the 20k no faff challenge.
All's good with the pregnancy apart from the fact I've now been told I've got SPD (must have caught it from Choco!). For those like me who are totally ignorant about that sort of thing, that basically means that the bones in my pelvis have moved a bit and aren't doing quite what they're supposed to. It's reasonably common, and can come in varying degrees - most people just find it very painful but can get on with it, others can end up in wheelchairs for years afterwards  (but only in most extreme and rare cases). I'm hoping for the former! It's very sore and takes me 3 times as long to do anything, but hasn't stopped me from doing much at all so far - hopefully that'll be as bad as it gets!
I did my first ever mystery shop the other day, in fact I did 2 in a row! Got an email saying my reports were 'pending review', so hoping they're good enough. Anyone else feel that they're a load of tosh? There was loads of important stuff that I could have said, but they're just interested in targets! Oh well, it's a few extra quid. Will have to be careful though about only doing ones that pay loads of expenses and little fees as I'll be paying 40% tax on any profits which isn't worthwhile.
Hope you all have a fantastic Christmas! Here's to getting to the other side of it and then getting really sorted out (again!).

(Assortment of smilies above, just to at least pretend I'm feeling festive!).
