Going to donate another bag to the charity shop. Shift my sorry !!! to the gym, buy cat litter and contemplate eating some tatties. I don't generally as my boot camp diet doesn't allow it but I have a bag or two sitting around so figured that I might make some roast tatties and/or some mustard mash. Next boot camp doesn't start till 13th jan, I just don't want to be rolling in the door
Hopefully make it to the gym before my brother goes off shift, his gym has been closed for a refurb so not seen him in around 3 weeks, be nice to have a chat. So I had better crack on.
Hopefully be a low spend day too, cat litter and some mushrooms/bottle of water and that should be me.0 -
I've bought some reduced price wraping paper already for 2015. It was being sold off cheap at work so I bought some for myself, my daughter and my daughter in law.
Some of the paper is a stylish grey stripe. It is not 'Christmassy' in the conventional way so will be great for wraping birthday presents, especially for men.
My two tips for saving on Christmas are
(1) When buying paper chealy after Christmas look to see if any of it is neutral and will do for wrapping birthday presents during the year. This can save a fortune compared with buying those little sheets of birthday or celebration wraping paper.
(2) When you buy your reduced price Christmas cards at the beggining of the year, pick a date in your diary in November/December and write in wher you have put them. This saves endless searching and you don't end up buying full price ones because you can't remember which hiding place you put them in.
Been and bought a loaf this morning but that's me indoors now until I go to work for the day tomorrow. I have a gammon joint cooking and the smell is lovely.
Have a good day everyone. This is such a lovely thread to read as we are all aiming for the same things - a decent life without wasting money.0 -
I keep all my leftover cards, paper, labels etc in bags under the bed so they are out of sight and I can find them easily next year when I need them (because they are always in the same place!).

Gigervamp - seeing your post on another Thread I have come here with special thoughts and hugs for you and yours.
Your situation is shared by another family[remaining daughter's next session is on Christmas Eve, 3 young grandchildren] at village Church, so when I say thoughts are with you, they are offered there, and that is true. It takes me quite a while to name everyone in my mind. Luckily, the mince pies and mulled wine were passed along the pews on Sunday!

Glorious walk done.
It was blowing a gale at the top of the hilly fields which was restorative to just let it wash over me. Dog had a jolly good run about as did our son, so now its a low key calming afternoon, after hubby makes cookies I'll be cleaning the kitchen and bathing the dog so he smells lovely.Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
I had so wanted to make HM gifts this year. It didn't come off, mainly due to not being organised enough in that field but I do intend to do it next year because I am so sure the feelings will be much better than the feelings of buying. Also another one, which will be quite difficult in the main because I don't live near my family and a lot of my friends, but not impossible with organisation, is to hand over gifts in person and enjoy the process as well as spending time with the person. It's something lacking in my life this year as I have had to rely on courier delivery. Not at all festive and leaves an awful taste of 'not given in the spirit in which I intended'0

Hi Can I come aboard. My mission next year is to simplify my life and not buy so much stuff. Not shopping will buy me much more time to do things that I enjoy and to save some cash DD hopes to go to Uni next year.0

Went to the library today and got a couple of books to read in the evenings. I love curling up with a hot water bottle under the blankets to have a read at bedtime....Agatha Christie at the moment. I very rarely buy new books now, except as presents. I like to get paperbacks at the car boot and then CS them after I've read them....saves money and reduces clutter in the house.
As I walked past tesco car park it was bedlam and lots of irate faces!! Glad I don't need to go shopping now until the new year.0 -
Broomstick wrote: »MoonJelly, where do you buy gortex patches? Also, do you know if they sell the tape for retaping the seams? I've hung onto my old gortex full zip cagoule and I reckon I'll be able to zip it up comfortably again in a couple of months (if weight loss continues to go well!). It's pretty tattered but will do really well for the allotment.
Thanks

I didn't buy the tape because I didn't need it. I think I saw something useful on Amazon (again). There may be other places to buy from, like your local cyclist shop but I was in a hurry...............................................................................
