Still trying my best and NBI. Still need to work on a few things.
Had double glazing windows installed about a month ago. It feels warmer now then it used to be.
Have got rid of some things to the charity shops, some old paperwork into the normal recycling and some things to the recycling centre. Also sorted through photographs and had a clear out there.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130 -
Things I'm doing today
Healthy living walking group from local library,45 minutes locally, followed by a hot drink and a biscuit at the local library.First bit will be around our local park which should look good in the frost.costs nothing and you get a good chinwag with other folk and a free hot drink at the end Whats not to enjoy.
Then off to DDs to let the dogs out while I prep her dinner for tonight .Then back home for HM soup lunch (parsnip and apple made yesterday) then feet up and a bit of knitting at TV then back to DDs for the boys coming in from school.
Home at 6.30-7 and dinner from last night that DD always plates me up (I only have to make some gravy and put into the microwave to reheat(not a lot of cooking:):)) We had roast beef last night and it was delicious so I have some slices of that and some left over roasties and carrots and broccoli. Busy day but NSD at all. No food shopping to buy so far this week
:):) Onwards and upwards chums

Hi everyone - I hope you are all doing well!
Happy belated birthday Lyn - it is my birthday on Wednesday so I will be treating myself to something nice like some goodies from Lush and some cake (hopefully YS).
DH and I have a week off together so we are enjoying using our National Trust membership which we bought for a fraction of the cost earlier in the year. Later in the week, we will be teaming up with the Ins laws to visit DH's grandparents and go somewhere nice for dinner.
My best friend from work is sadly leaving this week so I will be getting her a nice leaving gift and will have to pull out the purse for the leaving dinner too but I'm very happy to go to that.
I also won a gift voucher for a restaurant earlier in the year so I will be taking DH and some friends out for dinner on me for my birthday which will be nice. Other than that, I can;t see much unnecessary spending on the horizon. DH managed to haggle down our car insurance by £50 just by calling and asking so overall, we've had a good couple of weeks.
Hugs to all that need them!0 -
DS has eaten the chocs that I put away for xmas. I will not be replacing them.0

And Happy Birthday from me, too, Deleted_User. Hope you're enjoying the day.
Came home to an exhortation from a shop to do Black Friday shopping (or Black Friday-Sunday to be more exact). Flicked through their catalogue and was unmoved to open the purse, so that will be going straight in the recycling, along with Icelandia's Xmas food catalogue which postie seems to have brought me today.
I have bought very little this past month and some of it involved experiences rather than things, such as two archery classes and a fiver to my computer wallah for turning my XP computer into an XP point-of-sale machine. Which means the Microsarft Deathstar thinks its a till or an ATM machine and provides it with updates.:rotfl:
I am planning to spend Black Friday not-shopping at all, on general principles, and the nutters can get on with it in peace.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I'm still surprised at the buying mania which seems to affect a large percent on this new Black Friday phenomenon. People who seem to manage perfectly well without items for the rest of the year suddenly start behaving as if the world will come to the end if they can't have it.
Apparently one website has crashed under the strength of the demand. I'm just sitting here with my wallet firmly closed!0 -
I changed my mind about Black Friday "Steam" have three games off DS's wish list for £24.82 cheap Christmas present.0

Hiya All
Firstly thank for all the birthday wishes! ?Had an evening over my son's and his lady's cuddling dogs and chattin so that was nice! The next day was my son's band's album launch - it finished at 11.30 but by the time we had been to the after party in a remote village and got a bit lost on the way back and then I drove back to mine I didnt get to bed until 6am Sun!!! So sleeping habits all over the place - hence my absence!
Sophie - happy birthday - may you get many good wishes and things you want!
BTW- apart from a couple of drinks for me and DS!'s GF at the launch (It was freezing in there!) that came outa 'happy stash' I still haven't been shopping so thats another 7 days!! :j
here is the oatcake recipe I promised!!
75g medium oatmeal (or grind up porridge oats)
75g porridge oats
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
a few twists of ground black pepper
small handful of sunflower seeds or similar
2 tablespoons of olive/sunflower oil
100 ml boiling water
Method
1) mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Make a dip
2)pour in oil and add 100 ml boiling water
3) Work quickly together - either add more water or oats - the oats will need more water the longer they have been stored.
4)roll up into a ball and leave to rest for 5 mins (essential to let gluten develop)
5) roll out - dough will be crumbly so you might find it easier to squish into shapes about 5mm thick or cut out if successful at rolling.
6) bake GM 4 for 20 mins turn over and bake for another 10.
7) allow to cool on the tray.
Enjoy folks - Im off to bed soonest! Still tired must be gettin old!!Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
