Joining in the Silver Fox brigade, at the moment my hair is half grey 2 inches from the root, with dark tips, it looks purposely dip-dyed but it is only the toxic rubbish making its way out. I was sooooo fed up of traipsing to fancy hairdressers as model to get my roots done and being at the beck and call of moody teenagers in tight black clothes (the hairdressing students) and their camp and pretentious instructors!
DH likes the grey look too, for which I am really glad.
It feels truly liberating. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Possibly tins/flour
Any ideas, the milk and more delivery doesn't cover our area and Abel and cole boxes are too expensive as I can get fruit and veg at the market.
Ideas?

Yeah, I love to see women allowing the natural greys and whites to come through. I wish more of us did it, about 80% of women have dyed hair, how mad is that? And when do you stop?
I recall visiting my Nan in hospital about 20 years ago. She was in a side-ward of 4 older ladies, in their seventies and eighties. Three out of the four had their hair as nature intended, in various soft gleaming shades of white and silver. They looked perfect.
The fourth (and oldest at 86) had her hair dyed a darkish brown. It sat on her head like a lego-person snap-on style. It didn't flatter her face, it didn't look nice of itself as it was lustreless, and who the hell did she think she was fooling that it made her look younger?
If you free yourself from the tyranny of hair-dyeing, you'll save yourself a lot of time, money, chemical exposure and just plain fretfulness, as in are my roots showing/ gotta get my roots done before......etc etc.
I do such personal grooming as is needed to keep myself clean, healthy and tidy. I wage war on the petty uglinesses of life like stray chin hairs but I don't paint or paper. And I consistantly find people astonished and even a bit cross that I am actually older than they think I am.:rotfl:
The revenge of the low-maintenance woman. I reckon not pulling my fizz about to apply cosmetics and not slathering petro-chemical products on has contributed to the fresh-faced look.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Apologies I havent worked out multi quotes this early in my day, aka pre coffee.
Today is going to be my day of 'free-dom', our plans should all be free. DH is at the Dr this morning, then we'll be walking Duck the Dog for an hour or two over some large fields that we can walk to from our house (saving petrol), home for lunch (already paid for), and then I plan on taking our son to swimming at my gym, as he swims for free under my membership. Plus I want to make the most of the rest of my membership before the cancellation goes throughThen dinner at home, paid for in full..... Happy Days!

Worse..... Medway....
I live in Rainham which is three miles from Chatham yet I doubt I go there more than twice a year !!!, much prefer Maidstone if I have to go anywhere. The Hempstead Valley centre is the nearest with M&S and the parking is free, and if I'm not buying much I go on the bus which is also free for me:) Today I shall have to spend some cash as I am taking my DHS Ben to the big camping /outdoor shop to buy him some hiking boots for Christmas(can't do that without him trying them on first though )then I shall treat him to lunch out as he is 19 today:beer: So I will be splashing the cash but in the nicest way and not on tat, but to give my beautiful hard grafting grandson a treat. He was so proud to show me his jacket he bought whilst away at Uni this term a 'Ted Baker' one which is apparently the bees knees which he found in a charity shop for a tenner in Norwich.Being a broke student has made him appreciate the value of a quid now
:):) ist of January is looming and my cupboards are crammed full so very little shopping for me
Rainham itself isn't too bad and we do have a Wilkos which is useful, plus a wet fish shop and a greengrocers and on the outskirts a good farm shop.luckily I rarely need to go far for my shopping as I only live four minutes away from the presinctI go to Sittingbourne for Aldi's though as the Gillingham one is just so untidy and far too small, and to be honest a bit grubby. Can't stand the big tesco's and the little metro locally is vastly overpriced. But we do have a good library and a not bad swimming pool and best of all a couple of minutes driving and you're out into the countryside I love our local country park.So my bit of the Medway isn't too bad

I live not far from the big outdoor shop on the top road...... what a small world it is
I went to Jackie's Diner just across the road and was very impressed with their food and service. Though you might want something a bit 'more'. If you're not adverse to the chain Hungry Horse, at The Star further back toward Rainham I think you can get a discount voucher online for there which may save some pennies on lunchWealth is not measured by currency0 -
Just been reading and all very interesting and encouraging. I remember many years ago being in KwikSave (remember them?) in March and the lady in front of me in the till queue said this was her first food shop since...Christmas!! Amazing. Either she really overstocked or they ate like flies.0
