I found some storage boxes today so that saved having to buy some new ones. It seems like I just went through that cupboard so it just shows how you can scout around and find what you want without buying new.:)
No spend day again. Hope everyone is okay and wrapped up warm because of the weather.HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

hi all
117 pauline I too have fibromyalgia
it isn't nice at all when you get a bad flare up of it. I haven't spent any money today, didn't need to go out anywhere and the only thing this week I will need to buy is milk.:) happy days. I am knitting tonight when my dh goes to work and I volunteer in the morning at the local mums and toddlers for a couple of hours and will be straight home again. We had some snow earlier this morning but it stopped a while later, and the wind is fairly picking up now too. I was to go to the library today but found a paperback book last night which I had bought ages ago in a charity shop for £1 and had an early night and am enjoying it. I am so cutting down on my spending and it is so nice to read of what you are all cutting down on too. Brilliant JackieO in having your ironing board all this time. It was well made indeed.
Do a little kindness every day.;)0 -

I love my greenhouse and think it was the best birthday present ever. At the moment NBI is really quite easy once I have swallowed those uneasy feelings of reducing the stores but once the Spring is here, the garden will DEMAND attention and that may involve some spending. Yes, my garden is more demanding than any person. I have saved lots of seeds from last year so hopefully they will grow well. I love to share my plants with others too.
Can there be anything better than warm inside, tucked under chenille cuddly rug, looking at ideas for the garden with a cup of tea on the table by me?Don't get it perfect - Get it goingBetter Than Before0 -
Afternoon shipmates have spent ages catching up and what interesting topics - JackieO, brilliant historical stuff, I was brought up in the 60's and relate to a lot of what you said, we had a couple of local shops including a butcher but the main bulk of the shopping was done 'in town' on a Saturday and lasted all week. I remember being sent to the butchers for 3 slices of bacon and 2oz of ham, mum used to give the instruction 'and tell him to slice it thin!' Dad said she was so tight she could nip a current in half. but those were the times.
On the review of the month have spent the weekend with a friend which could have been spendy but resisted and just bought a pair of knitting needles for 49p and some reduced coloured maracas for the shoe boxes and a HM card for my sis's birthday for £1.50. We shared a takeout and watched some DVD's and lots of walks - really enjoyed the relaxation.
My totals for the month are a revelation - never have I had so much left or every penny having to be accountable for itself. Savings include £150 on groceries, £631 on lawd knows what and possibly a break even on the 'disposable account' which is used for petrol, haircuts and unexpected stuff. Total is being hurled towards the CC 0% but tempted to open one of the savings accounts for a bit of it so thank you for the information.
Dinner tonight is HM pea and ham soup with part baked baguettes which frees the last of the gammon joint bought for £2.49 YS before New Year and think it will be on it's 12th meal with enough left over for a couple of lunches.
Weather here is mixed - hail, wind, snow and a bit of sun in between, hope everyone is snuggly whatever you are doing.January 2020 Grocery challenge £119.45/£200

I have been reading and participating in the konmari thread and after reading the book decided that to organise paperwork I needed to buy a really useful box with suspension files (£32 delivered!). However the ethos of the book is to use storage you have already and it didn't sit right with me NBI this year. A quick look around and I found a crate which two expanding divider folders fit into perfectly. So not buying it prevailed!
I also have a friend selling a gorgeous pair of next boots in my size, brand new for £25 it keeps appearing on my news feed on facebook. But despite really *wanting* to buy them I've resisted as although I could justify them 100 times over the only reason I wanted them is just *want* so again not buying it!
IWAB x2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.

Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(0
