NOT BUYING IT! 2015 - A consumer holiday

I am going into town today on a couple of errands, and will be seeing what I can buy foodwise in the indoor market instead of going to a supermarket. Wish me luck! One life - your life - live it!0

Am back from my kennel outing!
On bad habits they creep back stealthily over your shoulder and engulf your mind before you even notice. This is what part of my battle is on HMS NoBuy. Being mindful needs effort and time. Slowing down is part of this process. Giving ourselves time to think as tori.k and I want a baby have demonstrated this morning is the key. Hence my name- Slowdown.
On mcdonalds for supper well done for avoiding that place. Don't know if you read one of my earlier posts on McDs chips but maybe hubby needs to. It's quite likely to put him off!
On Nargleblasts food market excellent work giving it a go. Even if it's not for you at least you tried.
Kind regards

Seriously lacking in motivation this Xmas holiday, and I need to get my but into gear
. I've been putting off taking the decs down, but today I need to make a start, I have a lot of decs
collected over many years, I should wheedle them down but can't bare to part with any. I know once they are down I'll feel better and like another poster said, should feel calmer as the house won't feel so cluttered.
Got to pop out to get some milk, bread and potatoes today and need to pop to the post office, as had an email to say I've sold a book on Amazon that I completely forgot was still listed, as it's been on there for so long. At least that's another few pounds in the pot.
Also behind in my studies as I am the worlds biggest procrastinator and I NEED to crack on with some today. It doesn't help that I've got myself absorbed in a book and its calling me:p that's the trouble when I set myself a reading challenge, it takes over my life lol.MFW 142- Oct 1999 £55,0000, Jul 2013 £27,593.17 Oct 2013 £26,531, Dec 2014 £22,600, Dec 2015 £20,190, Jan 2016 £19,944.19 Mar 2017 £16,944.76 Decluttered 207/2018

Day 1 of NSD passed really well, although today I have to pick a friend up from hospital so I may have to fill up the car. I'm telling myself that as the fuel prices are down it will be a saving in the long run!
I'm approaching the no SM part as not going there as my first port of call as sometimes they are the best and cheapest place to get various items. I have noticed though that the market veg is quite often cheaper than the supermarkets (inc L*dl) especially the seasonal stuff but even for odd items like sweet potatoes.
I started slowly, by making my visits to the SM every 10 days rather than weekly and now they tend to be fortnightly or even longer. My average supermarket spend is now much higher due to bulk buying and because the things that I need to get from there tend to be the one-off and slightly more expensive things but the overall spend there is actually reduced.
The other benefit is that I don't chuck the "ooh thats a good price" and the "I may need that so better buy it now" items in the trolley so often. The trolley is also so full with things like 20l packs of kerosene and 10 kg of flour that there isn't enough space and in my mind I already know that the bill at the end will be large. - I have very little will power so have to resort to playing tricks on myself :rotfl:
Right I'd better get on with my day: - I managed to trip over this morning and skin my knee so am actually feeling a bit in shock. Nothing too bad but I think my knee will be quite bruised. Currently it's got a layer of arnica gel and some of my home-made balm of Gilead soothing it but I know I need to keep it moving as I still have to feed the alpacas and get some important letters posted today.
PS. Going with the ship analogy, my dad always used to say that in sailing you never sailed to a port, you always sailed towards a port. That way you could always be flexible with your route and even your final destination.Aiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget

DH goes shopping on Sundays after he takes DD to her riding lesson. I have tried very hard not to go to the shop before then, hence I am having demerara sugar in my tea, but it doesn't taste much different.
Today is DD day, so its not a NSD, but now I can organise the budget for the rest of the month.£2 savers club #33

Me too. I am hoping for three NSD in a row and will maybe cave in on Sunday when I predict I shall run out of milk.
However I am considering drinking my coffee black to save milk and drink less coffee. I am sure it will be quite rank and therefore I am likely to drink a lot less. However milk in my coffee and the odd bit of cheese is the only dairy I get. Hmmm decisions decisions.0 -
CAFCGirl I'm a bit tied up this weekend ,but I have a breadmaker that you can have if you want its never been used, and is just sitting on top of the cupboard in my kitchen.PM me if you want it I'd like to see it go to a good home

Yesterday was a non spend day. Today my spends will be dinner at work which I incorporate into my weekly food budget.
I need to get out and about more in 2015. I need to make more like minded friends. Sometimes I feel I'm getting bored and that's not like me. Maybe too much time to think. So I need to find a cheap hobby. No knitting crocheting or sewing though. I have no young children anymore. Maybe try growing veg on my decking in pots.0 -
Ok so just realised that we also have half a punnet of grapes and 4 large strawberries left by sister too!
All the grapes that had fallen off the bunch (but were still fine) were put into the kids snack with the strawberries. Using up the quickest to go off first.
I put three brown bananas in the freezer the other day too, when we have run out of Xmas snacks to eat I shall make a couple of banana loaf cakes for lunch boxes.
Just got our milk delivery which will definitely help with our no supermarket challenge and found/remembered I had ten packets of bread mix bought cheaply from approved foods so I can use this with the new to me kenwood chef for our bread supply once the pittas/rolls are used up.
Today's plans are for a NSD, A day split between resting (28 weeks preg, extremely tired and achey and a history of babies trying to come early) and pottering around decluttering/tidying and organised!
My biggest aim however is to do as OP says and SLOWDOWN, to potter around rather than rush, to take pride in making a small area better than before, to enjoy the simple things like the sun on my face whilst washing up or the birds singing in the trees whilst hanging the washing out (it's lovely and mild and sunny so I am going to give it a go and see if it dries outside!).

ETA: my sister has also left half a block of Boursin garlic cheese left - any ideas on how to use this up? If I made a basic white sauce could I add it to this? What could I use it with? Pasta or turkey sliced? Thankyou!2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.
