Like everything, CEX has it's own market. If you trade stuff in fairly regularly, they're actually not bad. Sure, you can get more in cash elsewhere, and you can buy cheaper elsewhere, but if you just trade in, the extra bit you get in trade in credit goes some way to offsetting the higher prices.

I still pop in on a busy Saturday from time to time, but usually it's just to browse what the people in the queue are trying to sell. If I see anyone with something I want, I'll offer them the CEX trade in price as cash - I'm still getting a bargain, and they're getting a bit more cash for their goods.

I only buy DVD's in there.

Games are massively overpriced and not updated often enough. GTA V second hand is £55, I mean, c'mon.

CEX base selling prices on eBay, and supply and demand.

i.e. the Wii etc, and consoles at launch or hard to find titles.

So sell at eBay prices. On the reverse they pay more when you trade in, a few years ago, I sold a few Wiis and Nintendo DS's to them for £30 more each than I paid for them, and some £50 credit more.

They are not as generous now. on the iPhone 6 they paid you around retail for it, but sold it for £100 more. A year or two ago, they would give you £50/100 more than retail and sell it for £200 more.

I tend to get game to price match CEX now for trade ins, if I want a new title, then order it online with the game credit.

So annoying when CEX offer you a grade C price on your trade in electrical goods but you see them for sale as grade A a few days later

They're a quick and hassle free way to get some cash, like all cash-converter style shops are.

They'll offer rock-bottom prices and sell for as much as they can. That's business, and you can see the prices on their website before you go. I can't understand why anyone would have a problem with it.

If you don't like how much they'll give you, don't sell to them. Simple.

Just thought I would share a laugh I had when passing a CEX shop during the weekend.
After all these sub 300 quid plus 2 games deals during Black Friday last week Imagine how amused I was to see that CEX had the gall to try and flog a used console with no games for £330!!! Who are they trying to kid?

CEX used to be brill, these days not so good. Suppose it's the same with everyone, once a company gets to a certain size, it's streamlined for profit.
