CEX - Really???

Just thought I would share a laugh I had when passing a CEX shop during the weekend.
After all these sub 300 quid plus 2 games deals during Black Friday last week Imagine how amused I was to see that CEX had the gall to try and flog a used console with no games for £330!!! Who are they trying to kid?

They're trying to kid no one, they're trying to ensure they make a profit on the item - which like it or not is the whole point in business. Granted that's about £20 more expensive than it was preowned in Game last I saw, but the preowned price does depend on what they paid for it.

Then again, CEX's pricing is laughable at best - I wonder if they're still selling Minecraft preowned for £25...

Pretty much everything at CEX is overpriced and it's been that way for years
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

I remember them massively ripping people off at Christmas for the Wii when it first came out.

They are relying on all the shops running out of consoles and desperate parents coming in.

I have little love for Cex, they pay pennies when you sell to them and rip you off when you are buying.

Took a monitor into a branch last year as I didn't need it anymore. Tested it before taking it. They broke it while they were testing it and then just told me they couldn't buy it off me as it was faulty. It looked like some mindless drone had dropped it, but as you aren't present while they test items...

Is this not called a business model? How do you expect the store to survive without making a profit?

I just checked CEX again and the PS4 is now still unsold but at £290.
It may be their business model but I would seriously doubt the intellect of anyone who thought after Black Fridays' System plus two games offers they could shift a second hand PS4 on it's own for £30 more.

They are bargaining on someone coming in with an item to sell e.g an iPhone. They pay more in instore credit than they do in cash so that person may take the extra credit and use it to buy the PS4 (at the inflated price).

It's a shop that basically preys on the poor.

A lot of things sold at CEX are way above market value, and they have in the past even offered more to buy something of you than it was available new. You really have to be careful what you get there, or you will find you've over-paid.

On the plus side they do offer a warranty.
