* Personalised Birthday Cake - How much? *

Hi all. My daughters birthday is coming up (4th August) and I want a cake for her. Nothing too snazzy, but I want her name on it.

My mum said it would be cheaper to buy a plain cake and have someone do the icing.

How much does having a name put on a cake cost, approximately?

Tesco's and my local Sainsbury's will put a photo and some wording on a good sized cake (jam sponge) for £4.99. We've done a few for friends and we did one for our daughters second birthday.

Your photo will need to be bigger than a passport sized and quite light- but the cakes really do come out nice.

My kids used to chose a 'theme ' for their birthday cake and this was their personal cake. You get a basic sponge and then dress it up with roll on icing/icing 'writing pens'/ ornaments from specialist cake shops/ sweets of various shapes and sizes. You do sometimes have to buy shop bought Swiss rolls to add to the shape or buy special cake tins. Worked a treat-years later they still remember the cakes. Not the tidiest cakes in the world but the kids at the party always looked thrilled-although some of the parents looked askance at the edifices

Just beware that the numpty doing the cake doesn't cut any heads off with the border around the photo like they did on the one I got from Asda. Lovely cake otherwise - just headless!!!!!

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

second the costco comment. you do need to be a member though, which costs, but as a member, i think its worth it for the various Bargains.

It must have been the same numpty who did mine. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

However, when I went to customer service they were very helpful and re-did it with heads on.
