If you are not allowed to work then you are breaching the terms of your visitor visa. Work includes voluntary activities.
If you are discovered you will be banned from the UK for 10 years. The organisation for whom you volunteer will be fined up to £50000.
You are not resident in the UK and do not qualify to open any new bank accounts or credit cards. If you opened the Cap One CC whilst on the visitor visa, you committed fraud in the application.
You can open an HSBC premier account in the UK if you have one in your country of residence. You could also open an offshore bank account.0 -
Define 'resident'. There are many definitions. The most known one is for taxation, but it has nothing to do with bank accounts. All banks can have their own definition/requirements.You are not resident in the UK and do not qualify to open any new bank accounts or credit cards. And how do you know that the OP isn't a 'resident' (by any definition)?0 -

I am pretty sure I am not violating visit visa terms. My visits are short and don't involve full time or part time 'work' for any official 'organization. '
I have also read the new immigration law and there nothing that dies not allow me to apply for credit or bank accounts. The' residence' requirement is by banks, not the home office. And as the poster above has said there is no one definition of resident.
Not much help here. Better to try than to ask.0 -
UK resident will be that you pay tax in the UK.
If you breach the terms of your account due to not telling the Bank your full story then your banking facilities will always be withdrawn and closed down.0 -
