Uswitch bband checker says I can get fibre, but I can't....

Does anyone know why when I check my postcode on the Uswitch or Cable.co.uk websites it shows a list of all the ISP'S 's offering fibre eg sky, BT, EE etc in my street but when I check on the Sky site it says there is no fibre in my area. Same for all the other ISP's websites.
I have rung Sky and one of their advisors did a postcode and phone number check and said he couldn't see anything re availability. Also I have downloaded all the exchange rollout lists from the Openreach site and we're not on any list ie the accepting orders, coming soon, future exchanges or under evaluation so it would seem that we're not getting fibre!
Yet these fibre checking websites all show current availability, so where are they getting their (false)? information

Check using your phone number.
If you use a post code, some properties nearby may have FTTC available while others don't.
I suggest checking the BT Wholsale availability checker as you can't get any more accurate than that.
Also, note that if BT Wholesale can offer FTTC, it does not automatically mean Sky will offer it in your area also. They may still need to get their kit hooked up to the Openreach fibre network in that area.0 -
If fibre is available in your area according to general checks but, when checking with a specific ISP, there is no fibre available - you could be in an area that is high demand.
You can check on openreach site here - http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/
If the area is high demand it is a matter of checking until someone cancels or until Openreach upgrade.0 -
Thanks for the replies
The "where and when" I checked before and we're not down on any of the lists
And the wholesale availability checker doesn't even recognise our number (we're with sky for line rental) but I would have thought it would still recognise it?!
I've checked all the isp's tonight and none of them offer fibre... Yet on the uswitch site it says that they all do
Most I've managed to find out is what exchange I'm on and what number our cabinet is.. But then I can't find any more info on the cabinet.... :-(0 -
Just found on a local government site, the xxx's I put there
The cabinets in our village were put in at the start of August.. How long does it take to make them live on average?
Enabled Area
You are connected to cabinet number xxx on the xxx exchange.
Your area is enabled for Fibre but your cabinet is not ready yet so you can't place an order today. It is in our plans to be upgraded and we update this info weekly, so please check back later0 -
In my case there was a 8 month gap between the cab appearing( and being powered up) and the posters appearing on the cabs announcing that fibre was now available - I've heard of cases where cabs have been installed but are still not live a year later tho'.
I suspect that they do some sort of survey of households served by each cab to predict take up.0 -
I live in a little village in north nottinghamshire and have watched the fibre installation with a great deal of interest having put up with less than a 2 meg connection since moving in 2 years ago. We have been designated on the when and where website as coming soon for about 6 months. I watched the BT guys install the fibre cabinet in August with more cable testing early september. It was only 2 weeks ago that the better broadband for nottinghamshire facebook page announced that the cabinet was now live. I immediately went on the when and where website and it still said coming soon (and still does) however I went to bt, sky, plusnet etc and they all said it was available so I ordered it to be installed this friday.
So a long and rambling answer is that in our case it took almost 3 months from installing the fibre to going live. Hope it helps
Of course this could all go pear shaped on Friday....0 -

....in my area the go live status online was mirrored by posters stuck on the cabinets - has your local cab got a sticker on??:)0
