Speaker cable - Advice needed!!!!
Comments
-
surely you need three pieces of equal size for the front speakers (left right and centre).
I would use the cheapest wire i could find to drive the rear effect speakers, because they really dont have to do very much.
I would invest a little bit more in the front speaker cable, how much depends if it is only for movies (then very little), or if it is going to be for music, then a decent amount.
obviously depends on a myriad of other factors, including amp, source etc.0 -
o0o0o0o its so complicated lol.
If i bought a 50m roll would I need to buy some strippers as well I suppose
Ok, so I need 2 13m, and 3 12m.... Reemmber that the cables that came with it are 4.6mish and 7.5mish (front/rear) so there is already a difference? Could I get away with just having 2 of the fronts at 2 and one at 6ish?
This way I can just limit my costs and get a 50m roll and then some more seperately...
Do richersounds do them in rolls? I'm assuming its chepaer buying 50m pre done rather than pay per meter?
If anyone could give me an exact link (even if its to maplins/richer sounds/ etc) then it'd be much appreciated again.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

£0.69 per meter. That good enough ya think? Going back to my last post got a lil confused.. So one of the rears already fits (7.5m).. could I just get 12m for the other one of that stuff ^^... or will double the dist mean loss of sync realistcally....
EDIT: http://www.cableuniverse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=123 Also found this.. hmm[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

I'd echo the comments of those advising you not to spend too much.
The only point I'd make is that when you do wire up your speakers make sure that you observe the polarity of the connections. Most speaker cable will have a raised stripe on one side to help you do this. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

How powerfull is the amp? Might be better to go for the heavy duty at 99p if it is fairly powerful.
I beleive electricity is accepted to travel at around 0.7 times the speed of light through copper, so no you will not experience a loss of sync.0 -

That's the system I have... I know its quite a powerful system, especially for the price....
Right so I wont experience a loss of sound if i just get one 10m, one 12m and one 13m used with one 4.5m and one 7.5m?[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

I'd go for the heavy duty cable (http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=49&doy=27m7) for the extra few pence
With those kinds of lengths you won't notice a thing
penrhyn is spot on re polarity, this would induce phase if you get this wrong0 -
You make me happy elite
so, 10m + 12m + 13m = £35 and it should all sound ok? I'll be off to maplins tomorrow then! If anyone has any further advice regarding this please let me know before tomorrow before I've bought them rofl!
I suppose worst comes the worst if out of sync, I have to buy more.. just not made of money an all that
EDIT: Also elite, I definitely need to make sure that the ends fit in the speaker.. you can't tell from that pic i suppose though... the wire is really quite small and bendy.. kind of paperclip size, a bit wider... I can take a speaker with to maplins though...[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Someone from cable universe just emailed me and said:

Would be perfect for my requirements in the 3 differnet lengths that I want ^-^
0.69 a meter as well so lots cheaper than maplins.. any advice?
EDIT: Just had another idea. What if I got 3 3.5mm Stereo 15m Wires. Then used those 3 to connect the computer to the control center, meaning i could put the control center and sub (as short wire in between) at the tv end of the room so the speaker cables should all reach fine! Looks like on ebay it'd cost about £4 or £5 for a 15m 3.5mm stereo wire.. so 3 of them and job done? Would I lose much quality etc?[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

in fact thats def the way forward.. 3 15m 3.5mm stereo cables for the main pc speakers and rearranging my system...
I just need to be 100% sure that I won't lose quality[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."
