Depends where in the country you are, and who is doing the babysitting.
I pay anything between £6 and £12 per hour, depending on whether it is my usual childminder, the cleaner (and no, she won't iron when they are in bed!), or someone from the agency.0 -
Hi Deals - think there is already a thread about this?
Agree with the points raised by Sooz. We pay £7 per hour, but our babysitter is a qualified Nursery Nurse and has relevant First Aid training.
Best wishes.0 -
i use an agancy and pay bout £6 an hour, they only employ qualified child minders, they all have first aid training etcenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0

I charge £6 per hour
we used to use www.sitters.co.uk and the rate was £5.25 per hour ,with a minimum of 4 hours.

i used to do babysitting. I'd start @ 7pm. If the parents came home before midnight, id get £15, and £25 if they came home after that.0

Blimey id like to get £25 for babysitting lol
I babysit for 2 different people and both have 2 kids each.
I get £10 for about 8pm - whenever she comes home, lately has been 4am+
And the other one gives me £10-15 for the same hours....
I don't ask for more as they both pay for my taxi home after and one of them is a single parent & i know if she paid me anymore money then she probably wouldnt have enough to go out with...
I think im to nice sometimes

Rachie B, we use www.sitters.co.uk too. Don't forget that in addition to what you pay the babysitter directly, Sitters charge a booking fee of £4 each time, as well as a £12/year (I think it is?) for being on their books. Also, on Saturday nights it's £5.85/hour.
I still think it's a good service, they've never let us down once and the sitters have all been good - but it isn't as cheap as it sounds

My friends daughter babysits for me and I pay her around £3 per hour with a minimum of £10 for an evening even if it's just for a couple of hours.
My ex boyfriend said I was being ripped off! Even though it is my choice to pay her what I do. I think he should have read this thread!0
