EE Content Block

Options
Hi All,

I have had a contract with EE for a few months (six or seven can't remember exactly) and since I took out the contract their content lock system often blocks websites I try to visit.

I have turned it off but the problem persists anyway.

The websites it blocks aren't exactly what I'd call explicit- Daily Mirror, Daily Mail, BBC News (depending on the topic being reported I think it picks up key words, for example it may block a news story about guns but not about Black Friday deals) and it blocks ANY links visited through Twitter.

To clarify, the content lock is OFF but turns itself back on and when it does it seems to have a 'strict' filter in place.

I have let them know about the problem multiple times to which I receive a standard response saying they have solved the problem now- which they have at that very moment in time- but it is never more than a week before it goes through another period of having this fault.

I complained to head office more formally who said the complaint had been resolved and they weren't willing to comment further.

Firstly, I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue, and secondly I'd like to know what I can do about it? I feel like I've gone through the channels.

I don't want to change networks as I am happy with my phone and contract but it is just so annoying. I am a journalist and rely on Twitter to do an awful lot of my work. They just don't seem to care that people don't have full internet access.

I did have this problem. I logged into the EE website, clicked turn off the content lock and then turned my phone off and on again. Haven't had the problem for a few days now.

Downloading Opera Max or Onavo Extend may help ;)
The Opera Mini app may work too.

  • I do use the Opera Mini browser now and again when the issue is occurring but various websites I use for work don't display properly.

Turning it off and on also does work now and again but more often than not it doesn't and frankly I shouldn't have to- but I really appreciate the advice.

I suppose the only way around this is to move networks but that is going to be costly!

The other two might be better as they are quasi-VPNs.

Cheers mate. I still don't think I should have to go to this amount of trouble, though!
