I am subscribed to quite a few, and read them when the updates come thru.... I also take a peek in otherones as I find them (like urs! I'm still about halfway thru...). I think I have about 70 subscriptions overall (spring clean time me thinks!) and it can sometimes take ages to catch up on everything, esp if I've been away for a couple of days....

I only read a few, and post on less. For me it's normally people where you've gone through similar situations in the past, or maybe it's things you're thinking about doing in the future.
Well I read quite a lot, but I certainly don't read them all. Of the ones I do read, I can't really see a pattern as to why I like them. Certainly some people write better than other people, so that although some people have a lot going on in their life, it seems to be quite humdrum. Yet other people can make a broken washing machine seem hilarious.I do think it's important to give as well as to take. By reading the diaries etc you get lots of information, so sometimes if you can post things that may help it's only fair.
Not only that, but many people are writing their diary like casting stones into the abyss. Unless people interact with their diary, they have no idea they have readers or that anyone likes what they're writing. Unless something comes back, they don't know there's anything out there. That's where interaction is so important.
Use it or lose it! As they say...
Some diaries I do miss - like MinnieSpender's and the Oakdale_Minx's. But they have personal reasons for stopping, and their own individual lives are much more important than DFW.
But it is a shame. Especially when they disappear as well. Moozie being the specific case of that. The diaries are very different, not only the OP's, but also the people who post regularly. So some you obviously do or don't fit in with.
We DFW's are such a diverse breed that one diarist will never "connect" with every reader, just like one reader will never "connect" with every diary.
There are popular diaries I don't like, and there are a couple that I used to like, but have gone off the boil. But what does it matter? There's plenty more diaries, and plenty more readers besides me."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

TD you're obsessed with the stilletos thing!! LOL. I regularly read 4, post regularly on 2 and avidly read the others. I have been known to have two completely different converesations going with the same person at the same time on 2 diaries! was very surreal. Not had much time to post lately but am catching up again now. Yes it is very nice when you get something back from a reader but is good to have an outlet no matter what. I agree with Pania..... my diary's not so much of a diary as random posts updating where I'm at... I'm not concerned if people don't post on it (but it is nice when they do!)

I read mine! :rotfl:
and probably 2 others but I don't always have time to read every entry and then feel guilty..............and stop.
I don't expect anyone to read mine as I don't have the wit or humour to entertain but it helps me seeing it all written down. If i have a specific question I'll put that in a seperate post.If you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T
I'm not short - I'm condensed awesome!

The 'c' word (clique) is bandied around on here quite a lot, and I understand it to mean a group of people who intentionally include some people and exclude others - but I have never seen a single example of this happening.
I feel as though I may be one of the people who this criticism is levied at (not necessarily the comments on this thread, but in general), and I'm sorry anything I do or say comes across as cliquey, but I'm really not like that - I will happily chat to anyone that chats to me, and would be horrified if anyone felt pushed out because of a post I had made."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
I think the thing is, snaggles, that many many people drift through DFW, and for one reason or another, they don't stay long. However, there are some of us - you and I included - who are in this for the long term.
I know that without the support of you guys I would have thought "sod it" long ago and would not have made a fraction of the progress I have made this year. I still have a long way to go and so will be relying on you all for a lot longer yet.
If that makes the diarists cliquey, well sorry!! I think it is just a fantastic mutual support network, and you should be proud to be part of it.
And newbies and infrequent posters are always welcome - after all, we were all new once!
Perhaps it is the "chat" element of the diaries that makes people think of cliques. But surely better to keep the "chat" to the diaries than to start new threads? Also, sometimes it is the not debt "chat" on my diary that actually keeps me sane, and thereby more able to focus on my debt!
Not sure if I have gone too much off topic now. Sorry if I have

Interesting post! How do you do the link thing as I still havent caught up on not being able to subscribe to specific threads!
I read a few & when I've sussed out a few who I want to subscribe to I will! Right now finding my own diary is hard enough!
As for being clicqy (? sp!) I agree to a degree that some can come accross as very exclusinve & I know there are a couple of threads that I post on where I actualy feel like I'm invisible! Ie when I post no comment, or rare comment & when others post there are loads of responses so agree on this! I dont think its deliberate and its easier to chat to people you know but also know that a few people have actually left DFW because of this & that is a real shame. At the end of the day we're here to support each other so lets be aware of newbies eh! As for diaries being private I dont agree - its its private its in PM, this is after all a public forum!
I update mine occasionsally - not daily! I also post on another (weight loss) community & have a blog (not posted because of so many hurtful trolls on here!) so only so much you can do & suspect mine may come under the boring category! I dont write to be witty & amusing so have no problem with this! Some are gifted writers, some are not! Keep going on the diaries & I agree it would be helpful to have a subboard for them as this site is SO fast moving now!! Keep posting them I say! It does provide a sources of encouragement & sharing the journey, esp when for some of us the road is long!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Some people who do, come across as trying too hard. That's why I don't have a diary. Nothing to say, and try too hard to say it...

Well that's the old debate rearing it's head again. I think MSE management may be reluctant to split DFW again after the bankruptcy board "events".fishface-69 wrote: »Keep posting them I say! It does provide a sources of encouragement & sharing the journey, esp when for some of us the road is long!

Fishface, if I have ever done this then I am genuinely sorry, it was completely unintentional.fishface-69 wrote: »As for being clicqy (? sp!)
