I think Europe may be a success story

I'd be interested to know what's going to transform Europe in the next few months. That will have an impact on the remainder of 2015.

    3.no hidden charges

If this refers to HL, I beg you to check again. It is true that they publish all their charges but so do all the other reputable platforms. It's not so much a question of hiding but more a question of what could hit you down the road. For example, if you ever wanted to transfer your ISA or SIPP or unwrapped, the HL charges are the steepest in the industry.

You might say you will never leave them so it doesn't matter. I say never say never.

A lot depends on personal circumstances, sums involved and timeframe etc

You could plug some numbers into the link below and see what works for you

Thanks, CI, didn't have to move my lips/fingers.

Though I have to say, I don't think any of the comparison sites are comparing any potential exit charges, for the simple reasons that these charges are hugely variable, depending on a combination of your exit requirements (enormous variation from person to person) and the exit charges of your platform (relatively very low variation)

Gotta work out the numbers for your own particular situation. What's right for the person next door may not be right for yourself.

£10 per fund to transfer an ISA out of Charles Stanley. Although I guess you could sell all your funds before moving and set-up on new platform.

I'm with CSD but i've got written down in my notes to switch when I hit 30k. So trusting I did my research the 0.25% starts to become expensive at that point relatively speaking. I really should've written down to whom I am to switch. Can't think of everything though! :)

Ignoring event fees such as exit charges, CSD at 0.25% are about as cheap as it gets for platforms that charge by percentage for funds. After that you might want to look at fixed fee providers such as II but in terms of quality of service and support not all platforms are the same

The switch over point between II and CSD is £32,000 but only if you put in a lump sum, as there is often a transaction charge for purchases with fixed fee providers. I understand that II give you 2 free trades per quarter but if you make more regular (monthly) contributions it pushes this switch over figure up again

The link will let you try various 'what if' scenarios to see what is the most efficient for your funding style

If you're thinking in terms of 'after that' then you can ill afford to ignore such exit fees.

CSD are certainly good value for smaller amounts though and their site is very user friendly. I'll start up 2 JISAs with them come next april also.

I only wish they were as cheap for SIPPs but £100 a year + VAT + 0.25% is just not that competitive really. So Bestinvest for my SIPP upto 100k.

12% seemed too big a number considering some of my money is in 5% or less current accounts. So quite surprised when i calculated my wealth grew just over 20% from november 2013 to nov 2014.

up for the challenge, however, redundancy means i will be getting more than 12% of my wealth handed to me end of January and so my goal will be to (first find a job and then..) beat the 20.7% increase of 2014.
