someone must have made a mistake.

    Someone did - me! :o

Per my previous post - it was December 2012 I got pulled, not 2013. I must be living in a time warp. :D

I am quite shocked by the people that use this forum. "I am a criminal please help me decide whether I can get away with some more crime". Quite shocking really.

    Again thanks for the advice/responses.

If paid £60 and one day they come knocking on my door saying you owe us £40 I'll stump up or go to court or whatever it is they want me to do.

I checked my licence on the link provided (thank you v much) and it states I currently have 0 points so it would seem I have indeed been lucky here.

As for Fred246 I think someone needs to climb down off their high horse. I was caught speeding so paid the fine and took the points (hardly Dr. Evil is it?). If your honestly telling me that if you were in this situation you'd go down to the courts and say "oh sir please help! You seem to have forgotten to endorse my licence upon renewal, please rectify this so I can pay extra to my insurers when the time comes." I will doff my hat to you and say "Fred246 you truly are a better man than I."

As for me I'm going to accept my good fortune and just not speed in future.
  • Also had points removed from my licence on renewal, but as I'd declared them previously, I continued to do so.

Never really noticed any change of premium for 3 points.
  • I had exactly the same thing happen to me. Had 3 points for 91mph is Scotland in Jan 2012. Had to send my licence back as it was due to expire. Renewed licence came back with no points on the paper counterpart.

I checked on the mylicence site earlier this year and there are no endorsements against my licence. So the insurers would not see any points if they validated my information (in the event I did not declare them)

I have just renewed my insurance and disclosed the SP50 as I just can't be arsed with the chew if somehow the points declared under previous cover somehow are discovered in the event I needed to make a claim or if they did whatever searches they can from the likes of CUE etc.

Technically I have no points on my licence though.

Good old DVLA. At least losing points on renewal is better than losing categories, which they were doing a couple of years back :D

Whether you need to declare a conviction has nothing to do with whether points appear on a paper copy of a licence, and everything to do with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

Your insurers almost certainly ask about CONVICTIONS not just points [a Fixed Penalty Notice is a conviction as far as this aspect of the law is concerned]

By all means lie to your insurers and say you don't have a conviction. But as soon as you have an accident, they'll get the record from DVLA and then tell you that your policy was void from the beginning, and that you now have to pay them the cost of the third party claims.

There is little point in buying an insurance policy which will never ever provide the protection you are paying for.
