Had a bit of good news DH contract has been extended until the 22th Jan so at least he has another couple of weeks :) Think things are going to be pretty tough after that unless he can get anything else !

    Hi all

Yesterday I found the Coupon Queen! Watched a few of her vlogs and found some interesting tips which I didn't know about and don't think I've seen mentioned on this site so thought I'd share.

I'd heard of Top Cash Back which I use for online shopping, but for grocery shopping there's apps that give you cashback too! You download the app, find the cashback for things you've purchased (e.g. supermarket own brand milk), take a photo of your receipt and get cashback (one deal at the moment for own brand milk is £1 cashback!) Seems very easy! I think it pays out once you hit £5.

As I do most my shopping at lidl which doesn't seem to be on them I'm not sure how much I'll be able to use it but I'll keep an eye on there if I do pop to other shops!

    Hope someone finds this useful!

    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,935.00
Total paid off - £9,665.89 (61% paid off)
  • Congratulations everyone. Despite the franticness and expensiveness of this time of the year everyone is managing to keep at it and posting some brilliant amounts made/saved:T

In the last 6 days I've received my annual dividend bonus from my local area Co-op. I get a bit confused with the Co-operative:o. There's the main one (based in Manchester I think), that does the TV ads 'here for you for life'. They didn't pay a dividend last year after their financial woes. There's a branch in my nearest town but I don't use it much. Then there are various local regional Co-ops (still under the Co-op umbrella, they stock a lot of the same Co-op products), that seem to have better financial nous and do pay out an annual divi bonus. There are 3 branches fairly local to me and this year they paid out an extra Christmas bonus of 75% of total dividend earned in the year. I got £72:j. (that's in addition to the divi earned on shopping during the year and spent as soon as I got it:o). That bonus will pay for much of my December food spend. I've already transferred the equivalent £72 saved into my Emergency Fund savings account which has lain empty since I opened it:o so am counting the £72 in my total for this challenge. Hope it's OK. Admittedly, the bonus has to be spent in the Co-op but they do have some bargains and its one of the few places I ever manage to see any YS items that we want/need.

Plus other smallish sums since last update:
    • £17 after fees etc for books sold on Amazon (more sold and posted but money not in bank yet)
    • £11.45 off shopping at various places(stuff I was going to buy anyway) using MOCs and vouchers
    Total to add: £100.45:j:j:j

    Have a great week everyone.

Thanks Twiggy should already be in first post.

Shopitize, quidco click snap, checkoutsmart and topcashback all pay out on certain shopping at certain stores only.
  • Aesop, what brilliant results:A. And there you were only yesterday saying you nearly didn't join in this month because you've been struggling!

Great news about the shopping centre win, its always special when good luck like that turns up just in the nick of time. I bet you're so relieved that you can buy presents now. I'm chuffed for you:beer:.

  • Wow - everyone is doing so well & congratulations on your win Aesop.

I'm feeling a bit disappointed with myself. I bought some stuff from a Charity Shop today which was on a whim a bag & a skirt that I really didn't need - (they just caught my eye). We're only talking about a tenner here but the way I look at it there's no point in me doing this challenge if I'm just going to fritter my money away. So here I am - publicly giving myself a kick up the backside !
Shifting my energy for 2020 :heart::heart:
