You could "get by" with an i3 and 4gb ram with football manager, but depends on version and how many leagues he runs.
There's some very good offers on laptops today.
In addition to budget, can you let us know what version of Football Manager he plays and also the spec of your current laptop (or atleast the make and model)0 -
Sorry for using your thread, but I need very similar information, could anyone help ?
My brother wants one for football manager ( he currently plays the 2012 version ) and just internet browsing, I was wondering, which of these would be best or if something else may b better.

All would be ok but they all have standard onboard graphics, if you have a dedicated graphics chip then the thw gaming experience would be better visually.0

Out of them 3 its a close run between the Lenovo B5400 and the ASUS for the best one.
A very brief comparison of the 3 CPU's in CPU Mark (just focus on the red numbers!)
The Lenovo comes with a slightly better on-board graphics chip HD (Intel HD4600 rather than HD4000) and is clocked higher so it gives marginally better CPU performance than the i5.
However, for FM2012 (which doesnt need a high end graphics chip) and day to day browsing all 3 will more than suffice.
There's also the Toshiba C50-A-156 at argos for £250 you might want to consider as well if you ever get through.

Edit: Personally I would go with the ASUS with the extra HDD space.0 -

Thanks for your replys. He plays on the 2015 football manager just had a look and the laptop he uses its a hp pavillion g6, he is forever twisting about the fan overheating it gets really hot the fan has been replaced a few times and within a month or so breaks again.
I have spent all night looking online and my head is battered lol, to many laptops and to many sites crashing with yhis crazy black friday
I ideally want to stay away from hp but have no ideal which other brands are ok
My budget is no more than £300.
I am even open to refurbished ones if it means a better one.Baby Due Date 30/01/ 2013

The Celeron chip will lead to lots of slowness and frustration, get the best processor you can for your money I always suggestFriendly greeting!0

Play a bit of Football Manager myself from time to time so for me RAM and dedicated graphics card are both important. On that basis, I found a ASUS X552CL- SX037H at Save on Laptops slightly over your budget at £329.97 but may be worth considering anyway.
Bought my last two Asus laptops from this store in 2011 and had good service, both arriving quickly and both still going strong with no reliability problems.
PS The site wouldn't allow me to link for some reason.0
