Amazon Prime trial

I received a letter from Amazon last week entitling me to try Amazon Prime for 30 days as a previous user.
However, when I went to sign up, I was charged £79 for it. When I queried it with their online support they said that because I originally used the 30 day trial when I originally signed up, I was not entitled to another. It seems that letter was sent to all previous Amazon Prime customers.
Was not very happy and they would not honour the letter!

I guess it was hidden in the smallprint?0

Cancel it for a full refund as it was sold under misrepresentation. (If the invite was very prominent and the exclusion was not easy to locate, then it likely breaches consumer contract law).0

I did contact them straightaway and the cancelled my membership and refunded. Just cross it happened in the first place. I did check the small print but there wasn't anything there.0

I got one of these (complete with credit card thingy)
No way Jose!
Been there and got caught out. They're desperate to get people on to this as it locks people in to their offerings.0 -
I got one in the post too. Never ever signed for Prime before, and make sure when I buy I don't accidentally hit it.0

I got another one today!!0

Knowing Amazon, probably just opening the envelope triggered acceptance of their terms & conditions.0

Same here, received "Credit card thingy" and letter in post informing me that I'm eligible for a free 30 day trial. Go to website to find out what's going on and find my credit card details already filled in; so much for being free.
Been with Amazon for 8 years and this is the first piece of marketing I have ever received in the post from them. So I sent them a Section 11 notice which hopefully they will respect.0 -
