Damp and mould problems in rented house... what to do/ not do?

Very few properties 70s and onwards have such severe damp. It's usually the older ones .
Actually old houses with open fire places and drafty sash windows are probably far more healthy than breathing black mold.
If bleach doesn't work long enough on the mold then try wiping one wall with white vinegar, I think you will be pleasantly surprised how long it is effective for.0 -

Some landlords want to have their cake and eat it, they're getting rent from you and you're paying for a substandard property. They'd soon find the money if they had to live in it!
We signed for 6 months so can move in Feb if needed. Someone is coming tomorrow to replace the guttering and faschias on the extension so some good news! This should hopefully solve the mould problems by the back door, along with having a dehumidifier running when I've collected it tonight. Hopefully the paintwork won't be damaged too much. If it is, I hope that they don't say it is our fault as we didn't clean the mould straightaway?0 -

Ah! The paintwork in the lounge near the chimney breast looks like tide marks but they are quite a way up the wall, so may be that someone has already done this and smeared the paint? If they knew about the damp, surely the should have prewarned us and provided equipment to deal with it? Although we probably wouldn't have rented there then anyway so no wonder LA didn't mention it if they'd known.0
