Never been to M&S

But I have a £100 gift card to spend there.
I looked online and in our (pathetically small) store... is it all ready meals?
I was under the impression that shoppers at M&S were somehow superior beings, willing to spend more money on the finest produce available to conservative middle class England.
So am I just missing the part where you can buy food, or do they only sell "food-like products"?
I'm legitimately confused.:rotfl:

No, it's not all ready meals. Not at all.
In my local store the fruit and veg are excellent. They do have some quite lovely "bung straight in the oven" dishes (their oven chips are better than my chippy's chips), and they have some really nice "some assembly required" dishes too, but they sell plenty of raw stuff too, just like any other grocery shop!
Whereas they used to only stock M&S brands, they now also stock some brands such as Heinz and CocaCola too.0 -
Why don't you get your Christmas turkey from there, if you can't be bothered with a full bird you can get the turkey roast that you "bung straight in the oven" very easy for Christmas day!0

I think it depends on the store size/location. Some people won't live anywhere near an M&S, some people will live near one that's an entire floor dedicated to food and food choices.
If you say where you are, maybe people can suggest different branches where you'd get the best experience possible within a reasonable travelling distance.0 -
Oh... it's probably indicative of the lazy nature of people in my town that our local M&S doesn't stock anything fresh. I thought I'd discovered a huge, huge bit of contradictory behaviour amongst the middle classes haha
Even online they don't seem to have anything decent..I can't add up.0 -

I live in Grimsby, our nearest is probably Hull (with bridge tolls) or Lincoln (with awful parking and an hour drive for everything to defrost) :rotfl: I'm not having too much luck!
...is anyone interested in a £100 M&S gift card? hahaI can't add up.0 -
I've also got a chunk of gift cards to use (thanks to MSE, Sky and M&S bank :beer:)
One thing I can recommend is the 3 of £10 meat deal. Last time I got a chicken, a 750g bacon/ham joint and a packet of 2 beef minute steaks. From that lot I managed
Sunday roast chicken for 2;
2 lots of chicken stir-fry for 2;
beef stir-fry for 2;
Sunday bacon/ham dinner;
2 lots of pasta with bacon/ham for 2.
So in total 7 meals for 2 people.
Next time I'd ditch the beef stir-fry and get either another ham joint or another chicken.
Stick a cool bag in the boot of the car for the meat and you'll be fine with an hour's drive

We have a brand new massive M & S just opened at a new shopping park, opposite Tesco in Sc un thorpe. 35 miles each way from Grimsby. Maybe you are coming over this way and can combine a journey with something else. If not I'll buy the voucher for £50

IlonaI love skip diving.

I can also recommend the three for £10 deal on meat and fish. Our local branch had lemon sole fillets in the offer today-one of my favourites.
They also have the "Dine -in for £10" offer on-a main, side, pudding and wine and it would be worth checking if they still have 25% off on wine.
I don't buy a lot from M&S but do buy frozen fish, smoked salmon pate (goes a long way on toast or in sandwiches) and occasionally pies.0
