Rampant Recycler I've been Money Tipped!
edited 27 November 2014 at 12:52PM in Credit cards
I pay my credit card off in full every month.

However, I get paid 4-weekly. The next time I get paid is the 8th but my app says "payment due 1st december" I have made a payment in november (19th).

Can anybody help me? I don't want to get in trouble because of when I get paid now.

ETA - my pay lines up with the payment due dates in the new year. I always make sure I make a payment some time during the month (usually when I get paid I pay for some fuel with my card then pay it off once it clears) so I'm not sure if this protects me against missed payment this month?

When I go on the app it says "thank you for your payment" but no minimum payment details.

It's a Barclaycard Freedom Rewards card.

You need to make a payment of at least the minimum amount between the statement date and its respective payment due by date.

It's really no more complicated than that...is it?

No I know it's not complicated, I'm wondering if the payment on the 19th is enough to make sure I'm okay until the 8th when I get paid again.

  • Barclaycard don't know and don't care about your pay day. Just make your payments to them as shown on your statement and you'll be fine.

Did that payment comply with my earlier post, ie was it after the statement that demanded payment by 1st December?

I'm guessing so? My last statement was 4th november but I'd paid it off by then.

You need to make each payment after the statement and before the due date to avoid any problems. So far you have been lucky in that you have cleared the balance way ahead of the statement so the balance has been £0 at statement date, paying close to the statement could cause a "missed payment" even though you have a £0 balance.
  • If you got your statement 4th November and it says payment due 1st December then the payment you made on 19th November will be fine assuming you paid at least the balance of the statement so you do not incur interest. As another post said Barclaycard do not care when you are paid.

That means Barclaycard has received the minimum payment (or more) and no other payment is due until the new statement gets compiled (in early December).

I paid £20 and there was £25 on there. There's now £37 on there.

it says my statement balance is £50.70 - minimum amount £0.

You need to pay the "balance due" or "closing balance" or whatever they call it as shown on your printed or electronic statement of Nov 4th to be cleared into the account after Nov 4th and by Dec 1st. Ignore your on screen balance, only the printed or electronic statement counts.
