Trackmania Nations Forever is a great PC racing game. Just click the "Trackmania 1 Demo" link here:
http://trackmaniaforever.com/
The demo is pretty-much a full game, but you just get the one car to race with. The full version (United Forever) has other cars and tracks.0 -
its offline games i'm looking for0

There's only a few but the link below takes you there. I'm a member but don't know if you have to sign up for the freebies. Beneath a Steel Sky is probably the best of the bunch.

Not "free", but if you have a Steam account you could download some old titles like half life for next to no money and then play them in offline mode later on. Then on your own PC you could log onto the same steam account and play them on that PC too, in fact that's the beauty of the Steam gaming platform, you can have hundreds of games and play them on any PC (unless it's an EA or Ubisoft game, where their DRM will cripple your PC if you try).
Years ago, I used to log into Steam on my ex's laptop and play Day of Defeat online whilst she was working her Saturday morning shift.
The only reason I mention half life, is because it's the grand daddy of all modern FPS games, a piece of gaming history.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Beware of "free" games, they may well come with unwanted extras that could hi-jack your browsers with toolbars and unwanted popup adverts.
READ the terms and conditions, if you don't and click accept, you will have given them carte blanche to install this type of stuff, you will then come back here and complain you suddenly have pop up ads, and do not know how you got them ! and ask how to get rid.0 -

I would second Steam. There's lots of games on it for free, just filter out for the free ones and I'm sure there'll be plenty to play offline. Just install them whilst online and you're good to go.0 -

Yeah, pretty much..... Searching for "free games" and downloading random stuff is going to land you with every piece of malware ever created OR games that are based on the "free to play, but pay to win" model (like most mobile games).
Creators of malware, spyware and virus's, know that kids are a soft target, they'll click on anything to get to that free game, so most "free game" websites are just a platform for malware distribution.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

There's abandonware. Its debatable whether its technically legal. Its basically old games (10+ year old) where the developer has gone bust and abandoned the game. Plenty of sites out there if you just search it.
There's also emulators for old gaming machines like Amiga (winuae) where you can download thousands of games.0 -
