Declaring £1393.55 for February - although it's my 'worst' monthly total for a couple of years, it's a couple of hundred quid higher than I expected at the start of the month thanks to some ebay, cashback, and rummaging behind the sofa, so quite happy with that.
March will be very good on the savings front, although i'm waiting for my payslip to know quite what I have to work with. That should put me on a good footing for the rest of the year, although it'll be a tricky few months on a general cashflow front with a few big work expense payments both in and out - ultimately they all balance, but the challenge will be to work available cash and avoid dipping back in to savings to keep things going.0 -
£847.44 for February for me. Quite pleased with that. Went over my budget a tiny bit, but that was only because I went out last night.
£823.88 planned for March if I stick to my budget in all areas.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010
Mortgages (End 2017) - £180,235.03
(End 2021) - £131,215.25 DID IT!!!

No. 69 declaring £1,452 for February, takes me up to £2,942 for the year so far. On track at the moment! Also started a workplace pension this month (I know, I should have started ages ago! What was I thinking?). At least I have one now and I have filled my NISA for this year and last year.
March gets expensive for me: private dentist fee, car insurance, tax and M.O.T. I am still hoping to get close to £1,250 for March as I am targetting this amount at least every month in order to hit £15,000 at the end of the year. It'll be close!
Loving the numbers that people are saving on here - really motivating for me!

On the plus OH and I have also this month been looking at 'Early Retirement' blogs, as this is what we're saving towards... really fascinating, if you're interested, and relevant to people of all ages (some people retiring from full time work as young as 33);

Happy saving everyone.
I'm intrigued by these as well. Have read mrmoneymoustache but will take a look at the other one too. I do find some of the concepts a bit extreme though. For me, it's about finding the right balance between enjoying life now and planning for my future self. I think a good way to look at this is by what percentage of your income you can save.
No good saving £10,000/year if you earn £100,000 but saving £10,000/year if you earn £25,000 makes early retirement a more realistic proposition.
I have never really considered % of income when setting a savings target before. I tend to just go for nice round numbers. I think next year I'm going to calculate 40% of income and go for it!0 -
I'm saving around 75% of my monthly income at the moment - on the other hand, though, my husband is not saving anything or very little.
We've agreed it's better that way; I pay for all of our shopping, the council tax, a bit more of the rent (£450 vs. £350) and my personal expenses (incl. train ticket of £1k a year), he pays all remaining household bills and the car/petrol etc.
He's on approx. £16k less than me/year BUT he's not a saver so it's better for both of us if I do the saving, after all it's for a deposit and not for some luxury for myself. To even consider early retirement (particularly as we're 13 years apart, i.e. there will be 13 years with his pension and my income instead of two incomes - good luck that I'm earning more!!!) we need to get that sorted first either way...0 -

I'm a full-time postgraduate student but work part-time. At the moment 50% of my income goes to savings as the other 50% goes to paying my fees. However I'm paying the last fee instalment ever in March and then 100% of mine will go to savings, along with the 25% of my husband's income we currently save. We are very lucky to be able to live on one income though; that hasn't always been the case for us and certainly isn't for a lot of people.
In April our circumstances will change again and then we plan to be saving 100% of my income and 60% of his.0 -
Can I just point something out? I am getting a bit frustrating at people complaining when things aren't updated immediately. The spreadsheet doesn't update automatically, I do it manually when I get a few spare minutes. I do try and keep on top of it, but sometimes, life does actually get in the way.
Also, if there's a mistake, then just tell me! Plus, the rules are pretty clear on updating; by all means continuously update the thread with the individual savings you do during the month, but for updating the thread, I just need the final, total number you've saved for that particular month. I've had a couple of messages asking why I can't just keep adding up the numbers - the simple answer is that it would take far too long for the 200+ members of the thread for me to keep doing that!
