It's abhorrent that they have to exist.
I'll be donating to food banks a little more than normal over Christmas, and will also be giving blankets and food to a pet shelter.

I can take you to a charity that has been handing out food to the needy for thirty years, many of the regular customers can be seen leaving after having a free, much needed meal.

last time i posted a thread on this subject it got rather heated and totally negative, and i'm not rising to the bait this time,if you don't like the idea/dont support food banks etc etc then move along, rather than advertise the fact that you are a complete and utter
(fill in the blanks)
i've pointed out what tesco are doing, and i now have no further comment to make on the subject....
If your only point was to show what Tesco are doing you wouldn't have added (or indeed needed) the three different scenarios. Number three was was put in purely to cause argument, nothing more nothing less which frankly completely undermines your attempt at any good that Tesco are doing. It's someone else's fault.0 -
Last week I got a £5 off when you spend over £40 voucher so my plan next time I'm shopping is to use that to buy £5 worth of stuff for the food bank."You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts" - Arthur Schlesinger

If you are going to donate, PLEASE BUY HEAVY STUFF - Tesco donation is based on collected weight, so buy heavy UHT milk over light boxes of cereal.
I'm taking my 8 year old and 10 year old with, who will be collecting too.
My only beef is that it is in Tesco - I can get so much more food in Aldi for the same money, so will be sneaking a few Aldi products into the Tesco collection point for weighing.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
I first noticed a collecting box for tins etc. in Tesco in Well Street Hackney, where the original market stall was.
And I thought, why are they doing this, surely there would be more cost-effective ways of giving to Charidee? Even get people to give away their Clubcard vouchers?
I think there's a need for the feelgood factor of giving stuff to "those less fortunate" of whom there are always some..If they enjoy it enough, people might become more generous, not less as seems since I were a lass!
Incidentally, shopworkers on the minimum wage have their own Charidees and are generous to them.

Are Tesco going to claim all the credit, for selling the stuff that people then give away..?
If they matched can for can, might be worthy..Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
I'd be happier with the concept if Tesco had a scheme whereby you could buy and donate foodstuffs at cost price rather than full price. As it stands I can't help feeling that they're trying to guilt me into boosting THEIR profits.0

Holy Mother of God.
I rarely look at this forum and I'm not sure I will want to again.
What's wrong with some of the people seriously. If you don't want to donate , so be it. Don't go jerk around claiming benefits are generous if someone on them can donate to a food bank.
I do charity work for that WARM, FUZZY feeling yes. It makes me feel better. It also does some good and it is none of your business. Don't go jerk around implying people who do charity work are selfish.ally.0 -

That's something I hadn't thought about, but will be sure to point it out at Sainsbobs next time it runs this [STRIKE]scam[/STRIKE] scheme......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
