£5 free fruit and veg with a £10 spend @ Morries (Sun voucher)

Voucher repeated Friday, for those that may have missed it.

So is that £5 off a £50 spend, but you have to spend £10 on a basket and whatever you want on fruit and veg, but the total can't be more than £20 less than £5 you spend if you have £30 left after spending £20 on fruit and veg, and £10 on whatever else you like so long as you spend £40 more, but not less than the original £5?

And we haven't even started on how many vouchers you can use per transaction/customer/day yet!

It's so confusing.

If you look at the Sun front page that Lynsey posted in #32, it does say "Free £5 fruit and veg when you spend £10".

Not "... when you spend £5"

It depends on your definition of "spend". If you hand over £5 because your basket contains £5 of f&v and £5 of other items, you are not "spending" £10.

I'd love to hear a lawyer's take on the wording of this promotion!

He/she will tell you that a "basket spend" is the total value of the items you present at the till with the intention of purchasing, before any discounts/vouchers are applied.

The t&c's clearly state "A £10 minimum basket spend applies".

If you look at the paper it is obvious that the word "basket" is left out because it doesn't fit. If they included that word they would have to change the whole sentence as "when you basket spend £10" would confuse most Sun readers.

They would have to say something like "when your total basket spend is £10", and that just wouldn't fit.

okay - This is definately my last post on the subject . Why do you accept the wording of a voucher that says something like "£5 off when you spend £40" without question ? By your definition above are not " spending" £40 because you are only handing over £35
